Charlatan. Hey remember that insane Catholic preacher who was all, “Hillary Clinton cried in New Hampshire because she was white”? Well, now he has apologized. And, true to the Modern Religious Figure’s Apology Template, he apologized “if anybody was offended,” rather than for shouting a bunch of shouty garbage in a church. Barack Obama has performed another summary round of rejection and denunciation, and let us never speak of this again. [CNN]

Does that banner behind him say “Fox Television: Dressed in clothing”? Yea, I’m against that. Fox Nudes channel.

Patty Dumpling May 30, 2008 at 10:39 am

I’m more interested in the “Fox Television Dressed in Clothing” event being advertised here.

Patty Dumpling May 30, 2008 at 10:39 am

Damn.

Dramatist May 30, 2008 at 10:43 am

I am still confused by why I am supposed to be outraged by this guy. He’s white, isn’t he? I thought I was only supposed to be outraged by elitists or Blacks. And Latinos when they are ungrateful.

AngryBlakGuy May 30, 2008 at 10:44 am

…is he trying to to the super finger?

TJBeck May 30, 2008 at 10:45 am

@ Patty Dumpling

It probably says somethikng like “Woves dressed in sheep’s clothing” or “Assholes dressed in expensive clothing”.

AngryBlakGuy May 30, 2008 at 10:46 am

…he is the Eminem of preaching!

Dramatist May 30, 2008 at 10:47 am

@ AngryBlakGuy – Definitely some kind of gang sign. I knew Obama was affiliated with the Gramercy Riffs.

Sara K. Smith May 30, 2008 at 10:50 am

That is a photo from 1998, when this dude was protesting the Jerry Springer show…ONE OF THE GREATEST TELEVISION SHOWS OF ALL TIME. More proof that Father Pfleger is a nitwit.

TGY May 30, 2008 at 10:50 am

Religion should only be dry, emotionless, and dead. Who’s it encouraging these guys to go on rants?

queeraselvis v 2.0 May 30, 2008 at 10:50 am

“Divisive and hateful language like that is totally counterproductive in our efforts to bring our party together and have no place at the pulpit or in our politics,” the Clinton campaign said.
“We are disappointed that Sen. Obama didn’t specifically reject Father’s Pfleger’s despicable comments about Sen. Clinton and assume he will.”

Seriously, who writes these people’s playbooks? Are they all petulant five-year-olds, or just perpetual victims?

ronaldpagan May 30, 2008 at 10:53 am

That picture you have up is how he actually looks, 100% of the time.

(That said, I like what he said about Clinton.)

Dramatist May 30, 2008 at 10:56 am

@ queeraselvis v 2.0 – Remember that little girl on the playground, usually always wearing some sort of pink or purple jumper, usually with one blond ponytail tied high on her head? She would be part of that group of girls who brought dolls to school in Kindergarten or First Grade, but she was so much more aggressive than Heather and Amanda and the other girls who were playing with her. She would sometimes play games with you on the playground, but if she lost, she would stamp her feet and issue her rallying cry: “It’s not FAAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAIIIRRRRRR!!!!!”

Imagine, now, if you will, that all those girls like that grew up, and they all decided to run a presidential campaign.

Together.

Do you see now how these people can be like this?

ronaldpagan May 30, 2008 at 11:00 am

Perfect, Dramatist, perfect.

I hope Hillary rejects and denounces you now. Does she call her campaign bus the Waaaahhhhmbulance?

Harvey Birdman May 30, 2008 at 11:08 am

As a celibate priest, I think he doesn’t even have to warm up for three fingers. He’s just that passionate.

loudmouthredhead May 30, 2008 at 11:09 am

Anyone else think his finger pose there is highly unnatural? I can’t quite get my ring finger to be that perfectly straight while my pinky is gnarled. Proof that he’s an agent of the sexist, pagan, arugula devil.

Senator Boomdog May 30, 2008 at 11:09 am

Holy smokes! I go on vacation for a week, and teh Wonkette is all different. It hurts my eyes all my comments for the past three years are gone! How will I write my memoirs?

At least I get to upgrade my scotch avatar.

/threadjack

loudmouthredhead May 30, 2008 at 11:10 am

hmm….are my comments posting or no?

WonksRunAmuck May 30, 2008 at 11:11 am

I’d like to see Barry officially denounce and reject Hilz’ denouncing and rejecting of free speech and the truth!

metropolitan May 30, 2008 at 11:11 am

if pfleger was white he wouldn’t have to apologize.

loudmouthredhead May 30, 2008 at 11:11 am

nevermind :P

sanantonerose May 30, 2008 at 11:11 am

I wasn’t aware that Catholic priests ever closed their eyes and flashed the power hand stance like some two-bit Baptist preacher. Meh. Politics mixed with religion this early in the day gives me indigestion. Anybody got some seltzer?

Senator Boomdog May 30, 2008 at 11:14 am

No, no, reverend – you stick out the pinky and curl in the ring finger. “Two in the pink, one in the stink” if it helps you remember.

norbziness May 30, 2008 at 11:14 am

From the picture, he appears to be going through severe gun ownership withdrawal. I think the next stage in the process is hallucinating a dead Charlton Heston baby, crawling on the ceiling.

SayItWithWookies May 30, 2008 at 11:18 am

loudmouthredhead: A combination of rattlesnake venom and strychnine froze his hand that way during a fiery sermon in WV a while back — have a little sympathy for the damnfool preacher.

ronaldpagan May 30, 2008 at 11:18 am

@ loudmouthredhead The sexist, pagan, arugula devil? You mean me, right?

One more day until these things become passe.

loudmouthredhead May 30, 2008 at 11:20 am

@Senator Boomdog: But…how would he know that, silly? It’s not like priests ever have teh sexy-play! …and by that I mean they usually have all in the stink.

ronaldpagan May 30, 2008 at 11:20 am

@ norbziness Do you know your name is a typo? I was thinking of the gun too. And he needs to pull the trigger and ease the obvious torment of his life.

(PS: I bet Jeremiah Wright hates him, and hopefully we can see them have a catfight.)

loudmouthredhead May 30, 2008 at 11:21 am

wait, let me get this straight…we DO have pictorial reps. of smileys…but DON’T have reply buttons? Was there a product survey or something I missed the vote on?

DoctorCulturae May 30, 2008 at 11:24 am

Oh, don’t ever make fun of we white people. We’re so sensitive. Don’t ever use “divisive and hateful language.” We prefer to utilize the darker arts of disingenuousness.

Buffy and Hildegard May 30, 2008 at 11:25 am

How great a sound bite would it have been if, where he describes Obama’s entry, he had Barack saying, “I’m Barack Obama…BITCH”? He would have never stopped being my hero.

tunamelt May 30, 2008 at 11:30 am

I really appreciate this whole, “I’m sorry you were offended by what I did” versus “I’m sorry about what I did” distinction of apologies. It’s so very eight-year-old child.

queeraselvis v 2.0 May 30, 2008 at 11:30 am

@ Dramatist: I’m of the opinion that the entire Hillary camp needs to recharge the batteries in their dildos. Or turn up the speed from “mix” to “puree.”

edgydrifter May 30, 2008 at 11:34 am

I guess that’s how they pop a shocker in seminary, but from the look on his face I’d say it’s an unpleasant experience.

Gopherit v2.0 May 30, 2008 at 11:34 am

The Catholic Church should never have ordained a priest who can’t put a congregation asleep during the homily. It’s just that simple. What are they, Baptists?

Gopherit v2.0 May 30, 2008 at 11:36 am

@tunamelt I bet he ended his apology with,”aaaaasphinctersezwat?”

Gopherit v2.0 May 30, 2008 at 11:37 am

@edgydrifter Three in the hole, a pinky around the pole? Ouch.

Obamaton May 30, 2008 at 11:44 am

The Most Reverend Horton Heat is about to get out his Wiggle Stick and bring some SERIOUS action!!

floraway May 30, 2008 at 12:06 pm

I love that Fox must have someone assigned to reviewing each week’s services at Trinity. That can’t be a small task, because they have several services and other events each week. I wish my job was to sit and watch church services and then exploit them to try to destroy someone’s political career (and to make good men’s statements into ways to paint them as lunatics).

You know what? These people have a right to be angry and frustrated. They also have a right to express it in their house of worship. They have two friends who’s names have been sullied because of the happenings in the church. It would be smart to not do it on camera, but I completely understand their anger.

If he had molested 20 boys there wouldn’t be this kind of coverage. But he says the same thing about Hillz that Fox says (except puts a race twist on it) and they’re outraged. They play the video all day long. How ludicrous is that?

shortsshortsshorts May 30, 2008 at 12:13 pm

I don’t know if anyone will remember this reference, but surely Jesse Jackson walks next to this Obama loving pervert and says “apaalagize.”

hazmaq May 30, 2008 at 12:21 pm

If you think this guy should throw away the collar and start doin stand up – and I do – this clip from an old pre Jon Stewart Daily show should make MSNBC and CNN give up their network news role, since I haven’t seen any news out of them since Contessa Brewer tried to spell DPD, and just stick to 24/7 pre-annihilation chit chat.

fox televison: making sure our underaged male prey is dressed in no clothing?

Advocatus_Diaboli May 30, 2008 at 12:42 pm

let me know when he apologizes for all the ass-fucking of little boys.

WIDTAP May 30, 2008 at 12:45 pm

“I’m sorry you were offended by what I did” versus “I’m sorry about what I did”

Someplace, somewhere the head of Father Pfleger’s confessor is spinning around like a Linda Blair movie.

Guess Pfleger missed that day in Seminary.

shortsshortsshorts May 30, 2008 at 12:47 pm

@WIDTAP:
Always an excellent point.

“I’m sorry you were in the way of my fist when I punched.”
“I’m sorry that you don’t like it when I steal from you.”
“I’m sorry you were offended when I called you a whore.”

RushLickBall May 30, 2008 at 1:42 pm

Next up in the pastor files: Hilz’ rabbi from her home temple in Miami rants over Obama’s audacious concentration camp lies…

Lionel Hutz Esq. May 30, 2008 at 1:46 pm

@Dramatist:

Haven’t you been paying attention to the McCain campaign. Father Pfleger is a member of the whore church. That is why you should be outraged.

Plus, since he is preaching at Obama’s church, he must be a Muslim.

1ofUS May 30, 2008 at 2:05 pm

So what, is he also going to rescind the conversion I experienced through his rousing oratory? Will I revert to SCROTUS?

AudicityofHope May 30, 2008 at 2:15 pm

@shortsshortsshorts: Eminem! You’re so right!

Michael Pfleger should be cast as “The Preacher” in the next Batman movie. He would spew forth his racist hate-speech in attempts to harm the white citizens of Gotham City.

CriticalOne May 30, 2008 at 8:05 pm

Why is Pfleger apologizing? Remember, children, black is whack, white is right. I think he forgot himself. To retain his white card Pfleger must know distance himself from himself.

lawchic May 30, 2008 at 8:40 pm

Let me first start by saying, that I think that Father Pfleger messed up. You cannot use the pulpit in that manner, and you cannot make those kinds of assumptions about Hillary Clinton. I don’t think that she feels she is “entitled” to the presidency because she is white, I think she feels “entitled” because she paid her dues and did what she felt she was supposed to do. I for one, think that is offensive in general to think you are “entitled” to a presidency period.

My second point, while I certainly don’t agree with his comments, I think that is one of the funniest clips that I have witnessed in my life. It was just so unexpected. I really am ashamed because he shouldn’t have gone there, but that was FUNNY!!!

I don’t want to belabor the humor part, because I think people, white people especially, should be or could be offended by the Father’s comments. Yes, to a certain degree, white entitlement does exist but it certainly doesn’t apply to everyone and shouldn’t be used against everyone (white people) as a guilt tactic or bargaining chip for political gain.

FLA-VTR May 30, 2008 at 10:57 pm

Nice image — a priest mocking a woman from a pulpit where she’s not allowed to stand because she’s a woman. And, oh yeah, he’s “into” justice — except for the female half of the human race? It doesn’t offend Pfleger that women are excluded from the priesthood? Would he be a priest if black men were barred from the priesthood — like a bunch of women?

Well, there goes my last week as a Democrat. Between being disenfranchised by people who mock me for caring about my vote counting, and being mocked for being white, and watching Hillary mocked by a Catholic Priest for being female and white, it’s certainly been, well, a distillation of the last thirty years of creepily misogynistic, racially divisive pseudo-progressivism from the boyos of the left.

But, GOOD LUCK with that uniter thing.
