  • JIM JOHNSON QUITS OBAMA: Jim Johnson, one of the heads of Obama’s vice presidential steering committee, has already wussed out and given into Republican demands that he resign because of his friendship with terrible Subprimes. When will Caroline Kennedy quit the committee over her ties to a dead liberal father? [Ben Smith]

What? So no VP vetter picks self, ala Big Dick Cheney? Democrats never learn…

shortsshortsshorts June 11, 2008 at 3:27 pm

What’s with the part about raising money from lobbyists? Is this a two-in-one story? Confusion…

Serolf Divad June 11, 2008 at 3:32 pm

So like 98% of America, Johnson got a mortgage he shouldn’t have qualified for if the lenders had been on the up and up and crunched the numbers correctly?

SayItWithWookies June 11, 2008 at 3:37 pm

Dead girl? No. Live boy? No. Illegal invasion? Wiretapping? Embezzlement? No, no, no. Is this even news? Are we making any progress on the Millennium Goals? And what does Securicom_wtc have to say about this?

Cicada June 11, 2008 at 3:37 pm

He sat and listened to this man for 20 hours. 20 HOURS !!!!! How can we trust his judgment?!!!!!

When will Eric Holder quit the committee over his role in the Marc Rich pardon?

[re=13509]Serolf Divad[/re]: yeah, but unlike 98% of America, this man is throwing Whitey under the bus in favor of a black candidate. DID YOU HEAR ME? IS THIS THING ON? I SAID BLACK!!!! B-L-A-C-K!!!

AngryBlakGuy June 11, 2008 at 3:37 pm

…he should have done an interview and said “I will resign for my connection to subprime mortgages when Phil Graham resigns from John McCain’s campaign for causing it!”

AxmxZ June 11, 2008 at 3:38 pm

In other news, it has been uncovered that Malia Obama has a kitty who, in its indiscrete and reckless kittenhood, had once caught and eaten a white rat. Say no to Obama and reverse racism!!

[re=13518]Shypixel[/re]:

I think you meant to say an inadequate black male.

[re=13521]Serolf Divad[/re]: No, I’m not big on redundancy

2goats June 11, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Oh, shoot. The Washington Post was just gearing up for a whole news cycle on why Obama didn’t DEnounce and renounce him. Instead the wimp just graciously let him resign with dignity. Where’s the fun in that. If Mark Penn were still alive we’d aheard about this.

Next Michelle should divorce Hopey because of her ties to a Muslim-communist-terrorist ex-street organizer and failed part-time State senator from Chicago.

[re=13524]2goats[/re]: Meh. This bullshit won’t last through the week. At least he’s not screaming, waving his arms and ranting his general distaste with America.
Also, WALNUTS won’t say much of anything (else) about Barry’s connections, because, you know, he’s got a couple of dirty socks laying around the “straight talk express.”

[re=13527]shortsshortsshorts[/re]: just keep repeating “S&L, S&L”

Cicada June 11, 2008 at 3:52 pm

I never thought I’d say this, but this campaign cycle’s emphasis on forcing candidates to reject and denounce people who have ever had any relationship/professional tie to anything even remotely scandalous is making me feel sorry for politicians.

That’s right, I’m feeling sorry for POLITICIANS!

This crap is ridiculous, and has about as much to do with “changing Washington” as who wins the next round of Dancing With The Stars (provided Tucker Carlson isn’t competing this season).

I blame Wonkette. I don’t know why, but someone has to swing for this bullshit. Damn you Wonkette!

In other unrelated news, MSNBC just had a teaser showing those amazing women who did the “It’s Raining McCain” video…they have a new one and it’s ghastly , from what I can tell. Seems to be based on “Flashdance” if I caught it correctly.

StrangelyBrown June 11, 2008 at 4:06 pm

This is only fair, because in the entire history of this great country, no Republican has ever been granted a mortgage at terms even the slightest bit more favorable than what the average working-class American would have received.

Wait, what?

[re=13517]Canmon (the Inadequate)[/re]: When will Obama quit for his role in the James Johnson and Eric Holder scandals?

shortsshortsshorts June 11, 2008 at 4:08 pm

[re=13529]Doglessliberal[/re]: And some hot lobby sexytime, and “family values,” and pretty much anything WALNUTS has done for the last 499 years.

Gregory_of_Nazianzus June 11, 2008 at 4:15 pm

[re=13500]Shypixel[/re]: Jim Johnson wasn’t a paragon of pristine ethics like Dick Cheney.

TGY June 11, 2008 at 4:24 pm

The ‘form denunciation’ by the McCain spokesman made me grit my teeth. So…so…formulaic.

graceless June 11, 2008 at 4:27 pm

[re=13533]Cicada[/re]: I”m waiting for HRC to denounce and reject Hillaryis44, and that boring guy with the neon effects on his stupid site. Yeah, that’ll happen.

jagorev June 11, 2008 at 4:31 pm

I’m trying to work up some outrage here… but I can’t. Yes, Fannie Mae is a disastrous company to have been head of, but the real accounting scandals there didn’t start until 5 years after Jim Johnson left. Yes, Countrywide’s CEO Angelo Mozilo is the most loathed man in corporate America, and the Countrywide name itself is toxic waste, but Jim Johnson’s only connection to them is that he got a loan from Countrywide, like millions of other Americans. And the fact that he managed Walter Mondale’s campaign is a disgrace, but surely the right punishment for that is hara-kiri, not resignation?

[re=13565]Gregory_of_Nazianzus[/re]:

I heard they made someone try to get Cheney to resign the vetter’s role, but he killed and ate him. After that, they just decided to let him be vice president.

Texan Bulldoggette June 11, 2008 at 4:32 pm

Trying to find a pristine politician (total oxymoron) in DC is like trying to find a virgin at Daytona Beach during spring break or a stripper not stripping for the ‘college money’.

Shypixel June 11, 2008 at 4:41 pm

[re=13590]Texan Bulldoggette[/re]: I take exception to your remarks. I met a wonderful virgin girl during last years Daytona Spring Break festivities. She gave me the clap.

shortsshortsshorts June 11, 2008 at 5:05 pm

[re=13610]Shypixel[/re]: Oh jesus, you became a Hillary supporter?

*clap clap *point point*

wallythepug June 11, 2008 at 7:25 pm

This should have been a non-story. We can thank Rupert Murdoch and the WSJ for insinuating things that aren’t really there.

iwillsavethispatient June 11, 2008 at 7:27 pm

Meh! I wasn’t much of a fan of his relaxed Hawaiian surfer dude acoustic guitar music anyway. Mahalo!

Ouch, Obama’s gonna fall apart… Hillary had it worse though… wonder if this video aided to her downfall:

[re=13848]atpeaceinoregon[/re]: Was that Rod Serling doing the voice of Obama? “You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas, of Cheney and Rumsfeld.”
