Today marks the two-year anniversary of The Macaca Incident, in which Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen, a then-likely 2008 presidential nominee, called a Jim Webb spy “macaca” — which is like the ersatz “n*****” in certain tropical parts of Asia — leading to a series of Prejudiced hole-digging by Allen (“I’m a Jew? Who knew! Well fuck the Jews”) and an utterly destroyed political career. And tonight there is an “Asian-Americans for Obama” event in Arlington to commemorate the legendary video, and it’s hosted by Kal Penn, the famous stoner actor from Hollywood pictures. Every day is Macaca Day in Virginia.

I still don’t understand any of this. If somebody called me Macaca, I wouldn’t know enough to be offended. And as a PC-obsessed librul, I hate to miss an opportunity to be offended.

SayItWithWookies August 11, 2008 at 5:04 pm

Is Al Jolson gonna be there?

Canuckledragger August 11, 2008 at 5:05 pm

Oh sure. Of course the “Asian-Americans” would hold a thingie for Obama.

After all, he was born in Asia-town.

A PUMA told me she’s seen his birth certificate, and Obama comes from someplace called “Indo-nesia,” where Indians are born but get amnesia about where they’re born, which is why Obama thinks he’s ‘Murrkin.

Fuckin’ furriners, running for Preznit and taking all the good white women. Where WILL it all end?

I forgot how hilarious that video is. It’s satisfying watching his smug ass go down in flames.

Ah, Kal Penn. He’s really not capable of being on screen without his mouth open, I’ve noticed, even in the more serious roles. Well, once Hollywood is done with him, which is now, I guess there’s always porn.

Cool. Thanks for the head-up on the party.
Think I’ll go hang with the Chinks tonite,
eat some rice and “dog of the day”!

It’s weird watching someone look right at you and self-immolate.

[re=56908]columnv[/re]: Yeah, I used to be one of his constituents. It couldn’t have happened to a better guy. To think that this schmuck thought he could be president. But Jim should have linked to his family portrait.

Oh. Wow. That. Pic. Is. Horrific.

Doesn’t George ever leave that football alone?

[re=56919]Delicious[/re]: Well stated. It’s dramatic irony. Or something. Freshman English was so long ago…

BobLoblawLawBlog August 11, 2008 at 5:27 pm

I was completely behind this event before seeing Kal Penn was hosting. Is he all they could get?
BTW did anyone catch the HuffPo article where ScarJo was complaining about the coverage of her emails being embarrassing, and that it only happened because of the almost misogynistic obsession the media has with sexualizing everything starlets say?
The headline? “Scarlett Johannsen Calls Obama Emails ‘Embarrassing’; Dishes About Lesbian Kiss”
Fucking. Priceless.

Happy Macacaday! What should a traditional macacaday meal be? Indian takeout? Thai? Or maybe something more Jew-y for George Allen? Decisions, decisions.
[re=56910]AnnieGetYourFun[/re]: Why I know fun facts about Kal Penn and so little about more important things is beyond me, but he’s apparently a bit of a smartypants (well he’s asian, after all)angling for a job in the Obama administration—he teaches a class about asians in media at U Penn and volunteered for the Obama campaign in Iowa during the writer’s strike.

Wow. 2 years. How time flies when you’re swinging through the third world on jungle vines.

John Cho > Kal Penn

I remember the macaca moment like it was just yesterday…

John Cho = Sulu

I like to think that THE FORMER Sen. George Allen is driving around Northern Virginia, fuming, with a ranky old deer head in the bac seat, while trying to find Obama’s house.

Addressing The Incomparable Tiny Valdez: Would you consider shortening your user name just enough so that the Reply button can fit on the header for your comments? Twice in the last hour I’ve wanted to reply to one of your comments and couldn’t. I know it would be hard to do. Maybe some abbrev. of Incomparable, or if that’s unthinkable, The Incomparable T. V., or just The Incomparable? On the other hand, if you want to discourage replies to your comments, you’ve hit on an excellent tactic, and I congratulate you.

I gotta feelin George is going to have many many many macaca moments when “the one” is president. I’m dreamer , and I dream some day his career takes a downward spiral in the world of regional management for the Home Depot. And I hope that his manager is black . If you read GoMaca’s wiki, he’s a real piece of work.

Wagamuffin August 12, 2008 at 8:59 am

[re=56947]confusionanddelay<[/re]: If it’s Sunday, he will be eating Chinese—the equivalent of Jewish soul food (ddep fried won ton, dried garlic pork spareribs, lemon chicken, almond guy ding—yummmmm). It’s a Jewish thing. Because sometimes brisket just won’t do. It’s a fact. Go look it up on Wiki.
