Is it raining stock brokers on Wall Street yet? I need to know whether to bring an umbrella.

ManchuCandidate September 17, 2008 at 4:21 pm

To all Free Market Ideologues:

How’s that trickle down economics working for you today?

CrunchyKnee September 17, 2008 at 4:24 pm

It just has to be Clinton’s fault!

Serolf Divad September 17, 2008 at 4:24 pm

But… but… but that’s impossible… I mean over the past 8 years we’ve been enjoying the competent stewardship of America’s first CEO President! This was supposed to happen under Democratic stewardship of the economy, not the GOP!

iwillsavethispatient September 17, 2008 at 4:24 pm

I’m starting the “Under-my-Matress Bank”. If you send me cash (notes only, please), I promise to keep it safe underneath my matress. I’m not FDIC insured, but that just makes it a lot more patriotic to bank with me. Anyone interested?

johnbpt September 17, 2008 at 4:24 pm

To all my family, friends and acquaintances who have mocked me for refusing to put my money in the stock market: eat me, losers.

Noodle Salad September 17, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Dow Jones on Jan 23, 2001 – 10,649.

Today 10,609.

Does this mean the last 8 years never happened? If so, why do I feel so dirty?

Seanibus September 17, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Yeah, the fundamentals of the economy are strong, right? How can this be true? Must be elitist, Palin-bashing bias by the mainstream media.

Hahaha. The Freegan website was suspended due to a billing issue. That’s… special.

SayItWithWookies September 17, 2008 at 4:28 pm

It was all going so well until the Democrats seized power.

donner_froh September 17, 2008 at 4:29 pm

Look at the good news: the Dow was down 4% today but since it lost over 4% on Monday, then this 4% is less than that 4%.

The fundamentals are sound and things are getting better. Just do the math.

Oh, and here’s Lobotomy Perino reassuring investors who are nervous about whether the Bush administration is really in touch with the latest crisis:

“It’s not clear-cut, in terms of all the — is it all positive, is it all negative,” Perino told reporters at the daily press briefing. “There’s a mixed picture. But we do have the strength to be able to deal with it.”

[re=99450]donner_froh[/re]: Yes, the fundamentals are sound. There will always be Bud Lite cans to collect in the hobo jungles, double coupons for Chips-Ahoy cookies, and things to buy at the WalMart (there’s a sale on Chinese baby formula, so stock up). http://o.aolcdn.com/dims-news/dims/NEWS/1/430/394/60/http://o.aolcdn.com/photo-hub/news_gallery/5/7/575921/1221648584585.JPEG

My new theory, after talking to ex-BIL who was in a Xtian cult and is now a free market conservative thinker, and he is a working blue collar dude………The Xtian fundies were able to align with the right wing because both groups have an unlimited capacity to believe bullshit, are always subject to con artists disguised by an ideology, and do not want white men to give up any power.

The smart conservatives, like Wick Allison, are supporting Obama.

She is just like any street corner drug pusher. Doesn’t care where the shit comes from, how toxic it is (and any beer sold in cans and all light beers are toxic IMHO), or who is buying it. As long as she gets the $$$, why fuckin care who goes down!!

So… our tax dollars just bailed out an insurance company, but 1/7th of the country still doesn’t have insurance coverage? And those dumb shits over at the Jesus party still want to cut taxes? While bailing out corporations with our taxes? We fail at pseudo-socialized everything.
