Alaska Congressman and enemy to interns Don Young still loves his partner in corruption, Ted Stevens. This corrupt duo remembers being corrupt together ever since their corrupt days eating corrupt sandwiches with corrupt Richard Nixon and then corrupting each other’s wives: “I can remember Richard Nixon, you know, his years of service, what he’s done, and everybody [was] ridiculing him, and he ended up being the greatest president in the history of our century. … The Senator will be re-elected. He will appeal it. When he does go, he will win it because there’s no way this is a jury of his peers.” Much like corrupt Ted Stevens, corrupt Don Young will also lose his corrupt seat this year. chascates October 29, 2008 at 4:42 pm

A cabal of Nixon-lovers is trying to tarnish the sterling record of The Gipper! Cheney, Rumsfeld, Pat Buchanan, and now Don Young. Shame, shame.

3dollarbill October 29, 2008 at 4:43 pm

WTF? Is there a maximum IQ score (ca 49) under which you must score before you can become a GOP congressperson?

queeraselvis v 2.0 October 29, 2008 at 4:43 pm

Is this the same Don Young who’s married to that Leona Helmsley/Marie Antoniette/Imelda Marcos-on-crank shrew? ‘Cuz I’d hate to see that biddy go homeless.

estrangiero October 29, 2008 at 4:44 pm

Unfortunately Ted will not lose his seat, or at least not in the way many expect. Ted will win in Alaska by about 150 votes, then he will resign forcing a special election and guess who will be the Republican candidate for Ted’s vacant Senate seat??? . . .c’mon, I betcha you can guess who.

The Pumpernickel October 29, 2008 at 4:44 pm

Greatest president in history? Right…I think someone switch a denial sandwich in with the corrupt ones.

The good Doctor surely felt the same way as wingnut baby-eating intern beating Don Young:

“Richard Nixon is gone now and I am poorer for it. He was the real thing–a political monster straight out of Grendel and a very dangerous enemy. He could shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time. He lied to his friends and betrayed the trust of his family. Not even Gerald Ford, the unhappy ex-president who pardoned Nixon and kept him out of prison, was immune to the evil fallout. Ford, who believes strongly in Heaven and Hell, has told more than one of his celebrity golf partners that I know Iwill go to hell, because I pardoned Richard Nixon.”

Truly delusional.

Not_So_Much October 29, 2008 at 4:47 pm

Fuck him and his caribou/intern-hide-chewing fishwife. He’s as dirty as good, ‘ol intertubez. Trying to paint Stevens as some sort of hero now, with seven friggin’ convictions, is a pretty sad way to try and taint his own upcoming trial.

(apologies for using the word ‘taint’ anywhere near the pic above)

Styrofoam Boots October 29, 2008 at 4:48 pm

I’m calling it right now … his wife totally looks mail-ordered.

FMA October 29, 2008 at 4:48 pm

Is it something in the water? Is it the mercury in all of the fish they eat up there? Or do women just not stop drinking when they’re pregnant? Whatever it is, there appears to be a very serious stupidity epidemic in Alaska.

“I don’t know much about all the precedents in terms of the Geneva Conventions and what is in the Army Field Manual…We know what is in here for money.”

In Qawiaraq, the Inuit language spoken in western Alaska, “peers” is just another word for snow. In which case, Don Young has a point.

nurple October 29, 2008 at 4:51 pm

Hugh: Ironically, he inserted that into the Record after the fact.

gjdodger October 29, 2008 at 4:59 pm

A jury of his peers? Where are they going to find twelve other corrupt, pampered idiots who don’t understand the Internet? By cloning John McCain?

Dreamer October 29, 2008 at 5:00 pm

So is Alaska officially more corrupt than Louisiana?

estrangiero October 29, 2008 at 5:05 pm

[re=154706]Dreamer[/re]: Based on convictions in the past 24 months, yes.

lampadadog October 29, 2008 at 5:07 pm

Ah, Nixon! With his Socialist Wealth Spreading schemes and his Sparkle-Unicorn notions about the benefits of Diplomacy with the Commies!

palmerdawg October 29, 2008 at 5:12 pm

All Alaskans are socialist! If they’re not, then they should not accept Sarah “spread the wealth” Palin’s government/big oil rebate check this year.

Ironic and hypocrite are words!

AlexTrebeksGirl October 29, 2008 at 5:13 pm

Spread that wealf Sarah. Spread it goood.

S.Luggo October 29, 2008 at 5:19 pm

I can remember me, Don Young, you know, my years of service, what I’ve done, what I’ve taken, and everybody [was] ridiculing me, and I ended up being the greatest indicted Alaska US Respresentative in the history of our century. Amen.

The Station Manager October 29, 2008 at 5:22 pm

RE: The Nixon comment, I swear to god they’re trying to get caught. This is one a long line of cries for help. They keep saying the craziest shit imaginable in the hopes that someone will finally call them on their bullshit and haul them off.

[re=154656]shortsshortsshorts[/re]: And yet….Medicare happened under Nixon. Wage and price controls were implemented under Nixon to limit inflation. At one point he and his toadies gave serious consideration to a guaranteed minimum wage, which if it happened would’ve meant I’d never have gotten a job ever in my whole life. Plus, EPA was another Nixon achievement.

Today he sounds like a Green Party candidate.

But I was there, and he was a monster, despite all the good stuff.

S.Luggo October 29, 2008 at 5:33 pm

BTW: Don’s re-election is assured. Look at this photo. Don’s socialist opponent Berkowitz is merrily shaking hands with some damm, cod-chewing arab. http://media.adn.com/smedia/2008/10/25/22/753-4011607.standalone.prod_affiliate.7.jpg Heh. Berky is toast.
On the hand, this pitcher may bode well for Israeli/Palestinian relations.

masterdebater October 29, 2008 at 5:46 pm

Richard Nixon? Really? Is he counting on no one knowing who Richard Nixon was? What he did to deserve his infamy? Is this like when Ann Coulter tried to rehab Joe McCarthy’s image? These people are shameless. Next we will be hearing about how the terrific economy of Hoover, or the Constitutional watch dogs of the Bush administration that are still fighting for our rights.

Toomush Infermashun October 29, 2008 at 5:53 pm

Last I checked, Nixon was in last century. And millenium.

If he’s thinking this way, what century is Walnuts living in.

One Yield Regular October 29, 2008 at 6:47 pm

“…the greatest president in the history of our century”?

Your century’s over, asshole. Move aside.

HughJennicks October 29, 2008 at 6:52 pm

[re=154672]nurple[/re]: Stevens voted Against an anti-torture Amendment in the US Senate. He needs an
Official Abu Ghraib Interrogators’ Model
Chemical Lightstick of GOP Enlightenment

forcibly inserted by a Bush Man Date daily.
Clearly, his mind’s eye needs illumination
in the darkness it resides in.

And do not fret that this being hypocritical about human torture, because The Senate Republican Committee considers forcible sodomy with a blunt instrument to be an act of compassionate conservatism.

S.Luggo October 29, 2008 at 7:37 pm

[re=154921]One Yield Regular[/re]: The time it so flies when you’re bein’ corrupt, ya betcha. To Don it seems like only yesterday when he, Ted and McAged goosed Secretary Seward into buying Alaska from the Imperial Czar for $24 dollars in shiny beads and a hot tub.

3-legged Bloodhound October 29, 2008 at 8:25 pm

I don’t mean to cast aspersions, but Don Young is a cunt-faced whore. Wait – I’m sorry, I was thinking of his wife.

palmerdawg October 29, 2008 at 10:56 pm

[re=155259]3-legged Bloodhound[/re]: ooooooor maybe Cindy.

DangerousLiberal October 29, 2008 at 11:53 pm

[re=154718]estrangiero[/re]: Or in terms of having a clean sweep of all three members of its congressional delegation on the most corrupt members of congress list? You betcha! Even Lisa Murkowski made the cut with a sleazy land deal with some third-rate trailer court magnate in the Upper One. Three for three–beats Louisiana all to hell.

Pls note that all three are Republicans. Hmmmmm.

DangerousLiberal October 29, 2008 at 11:54 pm

[re=154740]palmerdawg[/re]: Or the fat rivers of cash that flow to the state from DC courtesy of Uncle Ted and Dipshit Don. As a former beneficiary of all those goodies whilst living in Alaska, I just want to say to all y’all–thanks.

palmerdawg October 30, 2008 at 3:50 am

[re=155630]DangerousLiberal[/re]: Aren’t you scared that your family back in the good old Alaski will be call “muslin sympathizers” cause you no longer reside there, now you roam with the elitist, marxist, terrorist, ACORNIST and free thinkers…….there’s a lot of “IST”, did you bring your tin foil hat?
