- STEVENS WILL PROBABLY LOSE: A modicum of “reality” has been restored to Alaska, as it now looks like convicted felon Ted Stevens will lose his Senate seat to Democrat Mark Begich, whose popularity stems from being the candidate in the race who isn’t a convicted felon. Stevens’ own pollster is calling Begich’s victory a sure thing, as most of the remaining absentee and early ballots waiting to be counted will favor Democrats. We, however, are hesitant to go all in based on the logic of Alaskan voters. [HuffPo]

…I’m confused, I thought being a felon in Alaska was an achievement?
The great thing about Stevens was his argument that he wasn’t bribed because, “I paid every bill I received!” Somehow the jury found that less than persuasive.
Aww. No special election for Barbie? But she’ll DIE if she really has to go back home and just be a damn governor!
Jim, I was following that, until I got to the last clause . . . . “the logic of Alaska voters.”
Then it fell apart.
It’ll be December before all the ballots finally come in by dogsled, biplane, carrier-goose, etc. Since they hand out yearly checks to all the inmates there the least the state government could do is buy some sort of steam-powered voting machine or something.
Don’t let your jiggling truck nutz hit you in the rear.
Tomorrow’s morning joe will feature all 9 forbidden words.
As is traditional, the loser will be fed to the seals.
“In spite of appearances, he doesn’t have a dishonest bone in his body.” Those appearances being what ….? Dittman is an idiot.
Haha! Looks like Ted Stevens is not Edwin Edwards after all.
Why are the early votes counted late?
I’ll believe it when I see it. As Reagan once said, “Alaskans are stupid things.”
OT: The Circuit City in your face ad-blitz is less annoying than it would usually be. I feel especially magnanimous minimizing the silly ad in my browser as I know they haven’t got long in this world…
Also – Yay for the death of Stevens!
Welcome to Obscurity, Caribou Barbie. Population, You.
Uncle Intertubez will be fine. He probably has some loyal friends that will help fix up his cell real nice.
Perpetual recount in 3…2…
Regarding the $250,000 of renovations on his house provided by a campaign contributor, Dittman said: “In his mind, they weren’t gifts. They were things he didn’t ask for, didn’t want, and didn’t expect.
Which is completely not the definition of “gift.” Now we know who gave Sarah Palin her English lessons.
Shouldn’t we all be staking some claims up in Ak? I mean they give you money for just being born there.How long does it take to be come naturalized and the dough starts rolling in?
If he really wanted to win, he would have bribed voters with Truck Nutz.
Will Ted Stevens use the same evil occupation court system that tried to silence him to overcome the Democratic usurper?
Can the GOP try to fuck over two recounts at once?
[re=176333]102415[/re]: I believe one year will get you on the dole. That’s the payback for 12 months of listening to everyone there tell you how special & different Alaska is. And it is. It’s cold and backward!
[re=176295]AngryBlakGuy[/re]: Unlike you go**amn lib’ruls, he’s sticking to his convictions.
[re=176327]WikipediaBrown[/re]: I think Ronnie’s “welfare queen” strawgument would apply, here, as well.
ALASKA: It’s socialism in America, the first time.
[re=176297]Cogito Ergo Bibo[/re]: Yeah, but since she’ll be stuck with a job that has no standards whatsoever, she’ll have that much more time to run for President. Now she can give an exclusive interview to a different anchorperson every single day until November 2012!
i have to say, as a personal note, that it’s nice for me that Alaska does its fair share to draw attention away from Texas and Louisiana…
[re=176311]chascates[/re]:
There’s also the problem with the seal-skin ballots.
[re=176405]anabellum[/re]: But seriously! Because of Palin and Alaska, suddenly Haley Barbour is the go-to Repug for health care reform (MS = highest infant mortality rate), Schwarzenegger is a shining example of bi-partisanship (CA = $3 trillion budget deficit) and the uncounted votes in Colorado and Georgia seem like mere footnotes to the world’s fairest and most transparent elections. Thank you, Alaska!
I dunno. I heard the polar bears are challenging the results, because melting sea ice kept them from the polls.
The final votes will be brought in by the new puppy that is coming with us to the White House.
[re=176439]problemwithcaring[/re]: exactly what i mean…just for starters, i go to school in the county with the highest teen birth rate in the state with the highest teen birth rate in the nation….[travis county, texas]…
i could easily go on…
[re=176491]anabellum[/re]: Things might change soon! Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn is thinking of running for mayor of Austin again.
[re=176340]chascates[/re]: Right you are- one year of living here entitles you to a share of the Permanent Fund Dividend. Issuance of these checks in October sets off a huge rush of smowmachine and ATV sales, bulk liquor purchases, and scads of tickets to Hawaii. Come on up and join the fun- we’re not all brain-dead Palinistas!
[re=176530]Tomthebunny[/re]: It IS hot here in Texas! Plus I’ve heard of this Matanuska Thunderf**k stuff. Must make the Northern lights very nice! And there’s no comparing a handful of crappie with one of those sofa-sized halibut.
[re=176318]nurple[/re]: F-in A!
[re=176340]chascates[/re]:
. . .I dispute the “backward” part. Anywhere that you can still find free parking can’t be considered totally backward, the backward threshold was definitely crossed with the general introduction of cappucino back in the 80s. Plus it sort of looks like more Alaskans voted for Begich than African-Americans voted against Prop 8.
This is such good news (if true). One, it gets rid of one of the most vile seniors in the Senate since Strom Thurmond kicked off and two it keeps Wonder Woman at home 4ever. She got some press at the RGA event today, but the 15 minutes of fame are quickly ticking off. Sand through the hour glass, Barbie. Melting, melting, melting. No more Matt Lauer, Katie Couric or NY Times. “Pity? Party of one…pity, party of one”
I like the fact that the Alaska Independent candidate has 11315 votes, with Stevens currently behind 800 or so. It makes me believe in God, in the same way I suppose that Ralph Nader caused a surge of new membership in evangelical churches in 2000.
[re=176376]Maus[/re]: I think you mean that his convictions are sticking to him.
Convicted felon and tech wiz. Let’s not sell Sen. Ted “The Internet Is A Series Of Tubes” Stevens short, here!
