DAVID PATERSON IS FINISHED: New York Gov. David Paterson, whose reign started about a year ago in that very auspicious first week when he admitted to cheating on his wife and doing coke all the time, is trailing New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo 61-18 (!) in a theoretical gubernatorial primary poll. In a theoretical general election matchup against RUDY TERRIBLE GIULIANI he is losing 53-32. [Quinnipiac]

She’s hot, but she has the most annoying voice ever! Go figure.

rubybuckaroo April 6, 2009 at 12:52 pm

Just proves that even a blind guy can have a roving eye.
I blame the furries. Also.

NoWireHangers April 6, 2009 at 12:53 pm

That’s a pretty sweet wedding dress. It’s like Classic Hollywood + Space + Lace / 1987 = Fabulous.

S.Luggo April 6, 2009 at 12:59 pm

Given that Cuomo’s middle name is Hussein, the poll results are pretty amazing.

More governing, a little less time spent making clay busts of Lionel Richie, plz. k thx.

Zadig April 6, 2009 at 1:02 pm

I’m sure that he will learn from his mistakes. Hindsight is, after all, 20/20.

…by the looks of it, he’s the one that chose her wedding dress!

ny state is full of emotional reactionaries, and nyc is particularly overwrought. take away their coffee, or start lacing it with opiates.

In a poll asking Giulliani if he wanted to be governor vs. being a huckster multi-millionaire “consultant”, the giant pile of cash won 101% to absolute 0% for the governorship.

When his wife is mad at him she switches his gym clothes with Hello Kitty gear.

He’s Finnish? I thought he was a sekrit Muslin. So hard to keep up with Negroes these days.

masterdebater April 6, 2009 at 1:25 pm

If the man is blind, why didn’t he just claim he didn’t know it wasn’t his wife that he was sleeping with, and that he thought he was using a perfectly legal cold remedy, instead of coke? Not a very good politician.

jagorev April 6, 2009 at 1:25 pm

[re=281908]cranky[/re]: Oh, STFU. Paterson is doing everything he can to ensure that this recession turns into a depression for New York. Who the fuck raises taxes and fees, increases the price of transportation, cuts services, and lays off workers in the MIDDLE OF A RECESSION? Dude is like a black Hervert Hoover.

Bruno April 6, 2009 at 1:28 pm

I’m trying to figure out how you do coke when your blind. You’d bloody your fingers cutting it with a razor and how would you know where the line is = lots of personal assistance.

Blind British MP also got all kinds of action. I guess it makes you more skilled in other ways. Or you just have big schlongs

Sure. That Cuomo guy shames a few Insurance execs into returning their bonuses and its all “61-18″ over the blind guy.

[re=281929]jagorev[/re]: you must be from ny, take a breath.

if you read my post, you’ll see i don’t defend him at all. when folks freak out to the degree that they start thinking rudolph is a good idea, well silly ol’ me, i lose respect.

jagorev April 6, 2009 at 2:13 pm

[re=281980]cranky[/re]: Not Rudolph, but definitely Cuomo.

Also, the Republicans in the State Senate need to be destroyed. Goddamn ungrateful upstate bastards.

ShamWow April 6, 2009 at 2:23 pm

[re=281929]jagorev[/re]: NY ain’t alone – Schwarzenegger did the same thing here in Cali.

jagorev April 6, 2009 at 2:28 pm

[re=282031]ShamWow[/re]: To be fair, California was primarily responsible for our last two bubbles (housing and tech). New York was just the i-banking, securitizing, bullshit-peddling enabler in each of those cases.

CorkPopper April 6, 2009 at 2:32 pm

[re=281929]jagorev[/re]: But unlike the federal one, doesn’t the state budget have to be balanced? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not in favor of taxing everything from soda to dance lessons, but given the fact that revenue has fallen off a cliff it seems to me his options are rather limited. He’s bumbling, yes, but still sucks to be him.

Red Zeppelin April 6, 2009 at 2:32 pm

After that Q poll, I think he’s gonna need a little black guy (and blind guy) thinking time!

CorkPopper April 6, 2009 at 2:34 pm

[re=281980]cranky[/re]: The Rudy-lovers are all upstate. Well, and in Staten Island. Very few of Rudy’s former constituents would vote for him for the proverbial dogcatcher, let alone governor.

jagorev April 6, 2009 at 3:01 pm

[re=282049]CorkPopper[/re]: Couldn’t they borrow money like everyone else? Issue a general-obligation muni bond? Or just ask the Fed for some cash – they seem to be lending to everyone nowadays.

bitchincamaro April 6, 2009 at 3:18 pm

[re=281929]jagorev[/re]: I agree, but Patterson gets points for “If I’d known higher taxes would have gotten Boss Limbaugh to leave the city, I’d have raised them sooner” remark.

Lionel Hutz Esq. April 6, 2009 at 3:46 pm

Of course Rudy is ahead. What about 9/11 do you all not understand? God, this whole site hates America.

CorkPopper April 6, 2009 at 4:09 pm

[re=282105]jagorev[/re]: I dunno much about the munnies, but I think NY bonds are probably close to junk level already. The stimulus munnies are keeping parks open and teachers working, though, so that’s a plus.

assistant/atlas April 6, 2009 at 5:12 pm

[re=282042]jagorev[/re]: Um….I think there’s some housing developers in Florida, Nevada and Arizona who might disagree with that sentiment. And I might also refer to your “enablers” as “a-holes who caused this mess.”

But then again, I’ve been calling for the severed heads of bankers since long before it became fashionable.

DGNYC April 6, 2009 at 5:21 pm

I see this polling data and the first question I ask is: “how much will this all change between now and the primary season?”

Let’s not forget how deceiving poll numbers have been in the past. Remember back in 2002? Carl McCall was well behind in the primary polls to – surprise surprise – Andrew Cuomo. McCall of course chipped away until Cuomo basically forfeited.

And given Cuomo’s involvement in the AIG scandal (see http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/05/what-did-andrew-cuomo-kno_n_183327.html), there’s no reason to think things can’t turn around just as fast for Governor Paterson.

jagorev April 6, 2009 at 8:21 pm

[re=282267]assistant/atlas[/re]: Meh, whatever, bankers wouldn’t have had anybody to lend to if it weren’t for the greed and stupidity of suburban Americans.
