- HERE YOU GO: The ABSOLUTELY TRUE (completely arbitrary) conventional wisdom regarding the CBO’s scoring of Harry Reid’s Senate health care bill has been that it needs to come in at less than $900 billion, or the entire reform effort would collapse, and Trig’s army would finally seize its opportunity cross the Rubicon. The report’s coming out now: $849 billion. Now, for Harry Reid, it’s just a matter of convincing several members of his own party to not join Republicans in a filibuster to block this important bill from reaching an open debate on the Senate floor. Debates have well-known Stalinist agendas, according to a website. [Politico]

Tell Joo Lieberman that the public option will cover Israelis and he’ll be cool with it now.
$900 billion will pay for a lot of abortions.
not to worry, I am sure the Dems will find about twenty more ways to screw up the legislation before it is finally passed
Why did I read the comments? WHY?!
I need alcohol after that.
Lieberman’s still going to filibuster. For the good of the nation.
There used to be a pretty vigorous Trotskyite faction in the debateshevik movement, but the Stalinist faction put an icepick through its eye and now, as you rightly note, debates are pretty monolithic.
I for one can’t wait to count the number of Cletus’s in John Boehner’s phonebook spoken word prose event.
And the new counterargument: includes “cuts” to Medicare. God knows the Republicans don’t want to cut the most wasteful government program in history that will turn our children gay while proving that Ronald Reagan is Jesus, liberals have no jobs and old people are worthless.
The CBO report could come out and say that not only would the plan not cost any money, it would give everyone $500 bucks, free tix to see either ‘New Moon’ or ‘Avatar’, and as much vicodin as you could ingest and it still wouldn’t get 60 because moderate/Conservative Dems would still claim that it costs too much. Or so their statements would say but it would be hard to know what they really think as it would be entirely written by Genentech.
