DEBBIE SCHLUSSEL SMACKS DOWN SEAN HANNITY: “Conservative blogger Debbie Schlussel has accused Sean Hannity’s Freedom Alliance charity of unethical fundraising practices and use of money. Schlussel points out how less than four percent of Freedom Alliance’s earnings in 2006 went to the nonprofit’s listed causes — college funding for the children of fallen soldiers and care for wounded veterans.” SMACKDOWN! I AM impressed!
I always suspected Sean of being a Republican!
Kos broke this story first, but I love to see the right eating each other.
I’m sure Fox News will cover this story comprehensively!
Douchebag fail
I realize this is wingnut on wingnut violence, but bring it on! Anything to shut that blowtard down.
Hmmmmm
http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/debbieschlussel2.sized.jpg
Me thinks that Sean didn’t fulfill her orgasm quota.
It’s always nice to see wignut-on-wignut violence; although a fight over a charity-funding issue is a lot less entertaining than the usual night of the long knives style purity battles.
How soft is the focus on that image? The photographer or photoshopper really went to a lot of effort to make Schlussel not look like the old she is.
That’s pretty on the ball for a Republican. Actually, I remember that during the 2008 campaign (maybe later, but I think it was before the election) two commenters here pointed out the very same thing in a post about Assity’s freedom concert tour.
Math is fun. Especially when it fucks up Huff’n Puff Insanity.
I know this just CAN’T be true, based on this refutation of the charges by noted honest person Oliver North.
http://www.freedomalliance.org/images/pdf_and_largepics/freedom_alliance_response.pdf
I wouldn’t hit that at all.
Girl fight!
This reminds me of when Campus Conservatives scammed old people out of a ton of money, or that fake injury guy – Kenneth Gladney? It’s kind of comforting how right-wing charities turn out to be frauds and swindles
Come on, is there anyone who doubts Sean likes a good smack?
[re=534217]S.Luggo[/re]:
hehehe
You caused a hot tea spurt damn you.
[re=534209]SayItWithWookies[/re]: Ah, here we go — commenters Mull_Man and Dave J made their observations just after Obama’s election here and here. Way to go, guys!
In Sean’s defense, it’s hard to find kids whose parents see combat AND have the properly tax-sheltered, Cayman’s based trust set up to recieve the funds. Do you realize how much you have to spend on thai boy-hookers and DMT to cope with that sort of strenuous search? WHY DO YOU HATE FREE TRADE, SCHLUSSEL? OR SHOULD I SAY VON SCHLUSSEL!!!!?!!!?!//!!???11
So many kickass smackdowns today! Now I’m *definitely* getting hammered tonight.
[re=534206]Monsieur Grumpe[/re]: She only a little makeup away from going full Avatard.
My son’s disabled from this fucking Iraq adventure and let me tell you, there’s a shitload of that stuff going on. Literally too many bad ones to name here, but Fisher House and Wounded Warrior Project are two of the good guys. Very good. Glad to see the Nobel Dynamite money (oh, I mean the Peace Prize) going there from Obama.
Good for Hannity; it’s hard to imagine a group of people more deserving of being fleeced.
Even worse, none of that money went to helping out one of Hannity’s biggest charity cases– Alan Colmes
It seemed clear from the press release issued by the Freedom Alliance today that the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund funds are handled differently than funds for other programs of the Freedom Alliance. If you donate to the “scholarship fund,” that money goes for the most part into a scholarship fund. If you donate to the Freedom Alliance, your money may or may not be going into the scholarship program. This is the first time the Freedom Alliance, to my knowledge, has ever separated the “Freedom Alliance” programs from the Freedom Alliance Scholarship fund program. I know this distinction was held back earlier to obfuscate the true business model, and that is exactly why they get along so well with obfuscator Sean Hannity.
[re=534207]JMP[/re]: “The photographer or photoshopper really went to a lot of effort to make Schlussel not look like the old she is.”
I agree — this is easily some of Thomas Kinkade’s best work.
[re=534225]SayItWithWookies[/re]: Thanks, Wookies…nice work!
[re=534207]JMP[/re]: She has a face for radio. Oh my though, she is almost as stacked as Megs!
I apologize for briefly being serious here, but, how is it that people who do this do not wind up in jail? How tiny can your actual charitable contribution go before it legally becomes fraud and then you’re tossed into the clink? Hannity needs to know because hey if you’re talking .0001% or something, there’s some money being thrown away here!
[re=534229]Extemporanus[/re]: Also “‘s”, you ‘tard!
[re=534235]Hooray For Anything[/re]: “FIVE AND HALF PERCENT, ALAN! FIVE AND HALF PERCENT!”
Look, 100% of the profits goes to these worthy causes. Of course, since it’s a non-profit, these kids are SoL.
It’s so refreshing (and unexpected) when one rightard calls out another for his/her lack of accountability. When I think of how much of my grannie’s money flew out the door in the Reagan years. It took my attorney uncle only about a week to get her declared an unsuitable steward of her finances when he saw the check ledgers. He hates to talk about it, and admits only that it was “more than $50,000…”
So if you enjoyed getting a shitload of junkmail from the College Republicans between about 1983 and 1990, you can thank my granny, she financed most of it.
[re=534242]Extemporanus[/re]: Also, “A”, Alan!
Oh, and also, “I can’t fucking type today, so instead I’m just gonna get so fucking drunk that I pass out mid-Schlussel chooch. The end.”
It’s about fucking time. I did the math on the Freedom Scam a year or two ago and I came up with 1 fucking nickel out of every dollar getting to the actual person. When I pointed this out to the droolers, all I got was, “Oh yeah, well at least Sean is doing something! Which is more than you can say!”
and I’d reply,
“I’ll make this so fucking simple that even a slug could understand. If you hand a War widow a buck, it would do more than 19 God damned $60 tickets to one of Sean Hannity’s Ham and Corn Liquor Hootenanny Concerts!”
By the way, Oliver North is involved in this scam as well. He’s the founder of the Charity that what little money is left from paying off all the concert bills goes to. After they take their cut, they shit out a nickel for war orphans.
Here’s a sexy shot of Sean wearing his shiny black patent leather monogrammed cowboy boots at a Freedom Scam concert. As a person who grew up in a Ranching Community, Cowboy Sean would have been laughed out of town wearing those fairy boots.

Hannity is the biggest scumbag of the bunch.
[re=534241]Gorillionaire[/re]: No, all that extra money went to legitimate administrative costs. Don’t you know how many cross-country flights and high class parties with top shelf booze and celebrity chefs a charity needs to sponsor to raise money?
[re=534236]FUNdamental[/re]: I guess the Freedom Alliance is basically gives them the freedom to fleece veterans…
[re=534228]KilgoreTrout_XL[/re]: Yeah, that’s why I was going to get hammered tonight too. Yeah, that’s it exactly.
Yes, but Hannity begins at home. I mean charity. Charity, totally.
Hannity is of course a total wanker, but the kicker is how exorbitant his charges are for his travel arrangements, and he will only fly in one type of private plane:
http://www.perrspectives.com/blog/archives/000544.htm
Wah wah waaaah debbie schlussel…
SRINO!!
[re=534251]Escape Goat Nation[/re]:

“pseudo-patriotic sack of right wing monkey shit”
[re=534230]steverino247[/re]: Thanks for mentioning those organizations — my anthropology major/EMT brother picked-up a career-ending injury in Iraq as well.
He’s former Army, but because he was working as a private contractor at the time (trying in vain to preserve archeological sites, riding shotgun for nomadic Bedouins caught in the cross-fire, writing ball-busting letters to every higher-up in Bremer’s CAP, etc.), he’s been all but on his own health care-wise after a year of ineffectual, contact-mandated “rehab arrest” in Germany.
Every pro-tip from trusted Wonketteers has the potential to really help someone out, and they’re sincerely appreciated. Tell your son to hang tough, and Lithuaniandickshitdouchetardpoopsnark, also.
I would hit that, I am an old, also. I am used to old sex. Its the same-old, same-old, you know?
[re=534271]ManchuCandidate[/re]: VOTE THIS ONE UP, WONKETTEERS!!
The scary thing is out of all the nut cases on Fox and even some of the nut cases who are regulars on Fox, Hannity just might be the dumbest of them all. He’s the football player who has to take remedial math classes so beats up geeks because he thinks “they’re fags.” He’s the one who goes to keg parties for the express purpose of getting into fights.
[re=534283]Extemporanus[/re]: “Bremer’s CPA“…
Man, I am suckin so hard today.
Shiaaat people…who shaves the rubes for free?
Not my boy Sean…
Secretly, he’s got no political opinion, any more than bat boy is really related to bats.
You all are ignoring that 96% of the funds did go to Sean’s secondary charity: Stroking Sean’s ego.
[re=534225]SayItWithWookies[/re]:
The 2008 IRS form 990 of The Freedom [to spend on one’s self] Alliance show that of in $8,900,000 in contributions received 15.7% ($1,370,000) was spent on distributions (grants). Total expenses were $6,745,000, including $1,436,000 in salaries and benefits, plus $77,000 in professional fund raising fees, equaling 32.8% of expenses. $2 million of the contributions was left to sit in the bank at the end of the year. A cynic might call this profit. But not me. Nope.
At the end of 2008, FA had $19,000,000 in ASSETS, including $16,000,000 in investments in publically traded securities.
Which shows to go you, why spending for social/charitable purposes should be left to the private sector rather than on wasteful Big Government.

Needs moar snake.
[re=534230]steverino247[/re]: [re=534283]Extemporanus[/re]: You guys should both check out Combat Paper. One of the Drews is doing a short residency at the Western NY Book Arts Center here in B-Lo and what they do is pretty spectacular. My Dad’s a DAV and I have direct relatives who are in country now, so I sympathize and wish your wounded folks all the best. God, I can’t wait until it’s over…
[re=534271]ManchuCandidate[/re]:
And he’s not the only one: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sean+hannity
[re=534363]Jim89048[/re]: Alright, I’d hit it. The snake can watch.
Is it me or does the right have a high cougar content? Just sayin… Maybe a young liberal buck take care of that noise….

Can anyone say that they are surprised that it isn’t little boys or hookers, but money that makes Hannity hard?
Schlussel v. Hannity, Noonan v. Beck, it’s shaping up to be a glorious weekend.
[re=534408]gurukalehuru[/re]: Begun, this tard war has!
You fools just don’t understand tax law. Please follow along:
Out of every $100 paid in $4 goes to charity.
The other $96 goes to cronies (themselves).
They’re good Christians, so they donate 10% to charity for the tax deduction.
That’s $9.60, which deprives the Treasury of 35% or about $3.36 (and goes to themselves). Working demidiotrats make up for that out of their minimum wage paycheck. Stupes. No wonder they can’t afford health insurance.
The way Hannity and his friends compute it is as follows:
$100-$4+$3.36=$.64
In other words, they make $96 off of a $.64 investment. It’s a %15,000 return on equity. Capitalism stupid! That’s why they’re rich and you’re not.
[re=534283]Extemporanus[/re]: [re=534371]rottenart[/re]: Thanks for the nice wishes. Always happy to point out who does the work (really) and who’s full of shit.
Wounded Warrior Project: When Scott hit Walter Reed in 9/04, those guys were there with backpacks stuffed with everything you didn’t think to bring or that wasn’t issued. Very helpful and all thought up by (mostly) Vietnam vets with Purple Hearts who also went around to tell the newly wounded what to expect and not to give up, etc. I never hesitate to praise them.
Fisher House: Never said no to any request. Any request. They flew his brother and nephew up to Minneapolis for his birthday at the VA Hospital there. Things can get a little strange at the Houses on rare occasions, but it’s the guests and not the foundation. Nobody’s at their best under those circumstances, so it’s best to forgive and roll your eyes later someplace else if you have to. Very helpful people every time.
I forgot Operation Second Chance which was originally one woman, Cindy McGrew, coming over to Walter Reed to try to do something nice every day after work. Not a big organization still, but it’s a very personal touch thing. She runs errands for the guys, gets them stuff and is a wonderful human being.
As for wanting this all to be over, you can’t imagine how much I want that. The only guy not hit with Scott was called back to duty (the lovely Individual Ready Reserve deal) and is in Afghanistan right now. He’s a good kid and we all hope he gets home soon.
Extemporanus: Hope your man recovers well. The high speed guys usually make it ok. No matter how bad it looks at the beginning.
I’d hit that now!!!
I just posted a somewhat garbled Hannity rant on Debbie Strudel’s magic intarweb house.
I started with,
Dear Debbie, first of all I think you are a kook, however, Hallelujah, it’s about time someone called Hannity on his Ham and Corn Liquor Hootenanny!…..
It took about 3 minutes for them to remove the, “kook” part. The rest of it is still there.
Tonight on Hannity’s American Hannity God Bless America Hannity Hour:
I’ve brought on two War Orphan kids that I just gave a buttload of money to. They will spend the next hour talking about how fucking awesome I am and how the War Orphan kids that I’ve ripped off for the last 7 years are just jealous whiny losers that didn’t deserve my generosity and greatness.
Schlussie and Hannity going at it! Yeah! GIRLFIGHT!!!
[re=534284]Prommie[/re]: sad but true. olds need hugz, also.
[re=534371]rottenart[/re]: [re=534429]steverino247[/re]: Much thanks to both of you for the great info and kind words. All my best to your peeps as well, in whatever shit hole they currently happen to call “home”.
Back in the old days, I was involved with a major golf tournament in a posh Colorado ski town. It was named after a guy who pardoned his former boss, who was a criminal and had to resign in disgrace. Any who ,every year they would make a big deal about how much the tourney donated to local charities, like the special garden named after his wife. Finally, after about 15 years they were able to crack the $500k in total donations. Guess what? The annual budget was over $5 million. So, it is considered “normal” among big time repubs to have essentially fake charities.
There’s a Lithuanian penis with her name on it somewhere.
looks like young orly taitz.

HANNITY’S OTHER SCAM
(h/t NewsHounds)
Sean Hannity makes a great show of supporting the troops and is a big supporter of Freedom Alliance (FA). His “Freedom Concerts” give their proceeds to that group and FA received a failing grade from The American Institute of Philanthropy(AIP). AIP uses these criteria:
AIP believes that a charity should spend at least 60 percent of its cash budget on bonafide charitable programs (35 percent or less receives an F and 75 percent or more receive an A), should spend less than $35 to raise $100 ($60 or more receives an F and $15 or less receives an A) and should not maintain over three years of available assets in reserves (over five years receives an F).
According to the AIP’s recent report, as reported in the WaPo:
The 12 charities rated as failing by the institute — including the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, the AMVETS National Service Foundation and the Freedom Alliance — collected at least $266 million in the past fiscal year.

[re=534206]Monsieur Grumpe[/re]: What are those nice hooters doing on that ugly woman?
[re=534241]Gorillionaire[/re]: I believe that it varies with the chartering state, but as a rule of thumb, charitable foundations are only legally obliged to give out ~3% of income per annum. Your better NGOs manage to give out direct payments or provides services to the tune of up to 93% of their income – Goodwill and Volunteers of America, for example.
[re=534429]steverino247[/re]: Hey, this is yesterday’s news so you may never see it, but I’m sending best thoughts and hopes to you and Scott. I lost my oldest boy just about 14 years ago to the Combat PTSD he brought home from Gulf War I. He sort of Came Home Dead in April of ’91, but it took him five years to borrow a buddy’s gun and make it official.
Oh well. That pretty much cured me of my lingering Conservatism.
Oh. Yeah. Snark. My boy was one of the snarkiest funniest dudes who ever lived. We used to make each other laugh until our sides hurt. I haven’t laughed like that in 14 years. He would have absolutely *loved* this site.
I might like to volunteer for this Wounded Warriors group. Thanks for the tip. Bless all these poor brave kids.
[re=534635]iolanthe[/re]: I’ve had the opinion for years that we need to put the names of all those who killed themselves for that reason on the wall with the ones who were killed in action. The same event was responsible for both, after all.
The Vietnam Memorial is shaped like the stripe of the rank of Private. When we build the monument for the ones who died in Iraq, it should be shaped like the letter W, so everyone will know who was ultimately responsible for each and every one of those names being there.
I’m very sorry to hear of your loss. It’s too bad he was unable to get effective help for his condition. It’s out there and effective. That’s the good news, I suppose. The bad news is so many don’t seek it in time or at all.
