Wesley Snipes didn't pay taxes, either.SO CHARLIE RANGEL CAN RUN FOR PRESIDENT NOW, AND HUNT MOOSLIMS AT GROUND ZERO? “The subcommittee that investigated Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) has recommended that the embattled lawmaker face just a ‘reprimand,’ a mild form of punishment similar to that given to Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) when he was rebuked in 1997.” [Washington Post]

Charlie’s hair has turned blue! That’s punishment enough.

harry palmer July 30, 2010 at 4:26 pm

But can Charlie be an idea man from the intellectual wing of the party and still be a real American and not an elitist? You think Nwewt’s shit is easy, but you have no idea.

The Orville Redenbacher look never goes stale.

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie….

Was Newt rebuked just for being an asshole and stuff? I was in college, busy learning how to do important things (sleep with women and get drunk, sometimes not in that order), so I don’t even remember that happening.

Jukesgrrl July 30, 2010 at 4:31 pm

Only elitists use words like “reprimand.” Case closed. Bring on the Republican Congress.

Haters gonna hate.

On the alt.text, that’s something we have our libertarian “friends” to thank for. Snipes actually listened to a bunch of their bullshit about how the IRS secretly unconstitutional and we don’t really have to pay taxes, and – surprise – the IRS and courts disagreed.

Can O Whoopass July 30, 2010 at 4:34 pm

He’s getting more & more like Ronald Reagan. All he needs now is a hostage situation and some jelly beans.

SayItWithWookies July 30, 2010 at 4:38 pm

And the Republicans were so looking forward to this huge scandalous trial that was going to dominate the news cycle right up to the election. Now they’re going to have to make shit up again. Why does Charlie Rangel keep forcing the GOP to lie?!

He’s not even gonna have to go in timeout? He should have to go in timeout for that blue hair alone.

So it turns out nothing in this story is true, and the committee in question not only didn’t recommend Rangel be reprimanded but actually didn’t make any recommendation at all, never makes any such recommendations ever, does not even have the authority to make such recommendations, and the politico or somebody just took an off the cuff comment by one committee member and blew it up into a story without even checking to see whether the procedure they were reporting on existed. And then everybody else repeated it cuz hey, the politico was saying it.

Charlie Rangel was great in New Jack City.

Oh hell to the no July 31, 2010 at 3:19 am

I’m familiar with this kind of punishment from my college days. He will probably have to do a naked run and chug beers until he pukes.

NY Post: Rangel Wrangle Rankles

NeoKhan July 31, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Hey Cuntette, still “gobbling the goo” I see! Only U would try to “polish a turd like Rangle” and try to squeeze in more Republican distracters, like they had any bearing on the case whatsoever….. I noticed you never bothered to mention the wheeling and dealing behind the scenes between Rangel’s lobbyist-funded lawyers and the House ethics panel on a deal to avoid a congressional trial. Of course a full-blown public trial would air out his self-dealing, continual bad-faith failures to report income, multiple House gift ban and solicitation ban violations, flouting of franking privilege and letterhead rules, and a fundamental “pattern of indifference or disregard for the laws, rules and regulations of the United States and House of Representatives.” But, wait, what about BUSH? Bush-whack all you want. The putrid Rangel stench is overpowering. But then you must just LOVE to finger yourself while he tries to reinstate the draft……..

NeoKhan August 1, 2010 at 12:25 pm

Yes we all see how serious Pelsoi was about “draining the swamp.” It was just a half hearted gesture at best because while the procedings are going forward other members of congress & etc are throwing Rangel a large birthday party bash!….

“The Hill reported that New York Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, along with Gov. David Paterson, are putting together an Aug. 11 birthday gala at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. Tickets will run from $200 to $2,500.”

Apparently the money will go to his “victory fund.” Yes, we sure wouldn’t want to break a cardnial democrat rule: Always spend Other People’s Money, never your own money.

[re=629868]NeoKhan[/re]: Eh, how many vanity wars did Rangel start again? I’m afraid I’ve lost count here.

I love the procedural language used by Congress whenever it intends on condemning one of its own members. It’s all old-timey and polite; it hearkens back to the day when if you looked at another man’s wife wrong he’d kill you, but he’d do it civilly and properly.

“Sir, I insist you cease your improper dealings with these of most unsavory characters. I will warn you only once that your behaviour is neither acceptable nor beyond rebuke.”

“And I, sir, find your levying of these allegations against my character to be of equal objection. Relent in your persecution.”

“Sir, it is only your storied history amongst the halls of this government that lends me to issue one final warning: Do not allow your legacy to be tarnished, and pray you do not force my hand in this matter.”

“That is not the declaration issued forth from your mother the evening before.”
