We've had many people let us know that Finn MacCool's, where Senator John Kerry recently loosened up to discuss impeachment possibilities, is, in fact, an actual Washington DC establishment of drunken abandonment. One Wonkette operative dug a little deeper to let us know that the bar is named after ancient Irish folkhero Fionn MacCumhail, who -- and we are not making this up -- was able to see into the future everytime he sucked his thumb. I guess at this point, Kerry's willing to try anything.
Our operative says "Finn MacCool" is an Anglicization of "Fionn MacCumhail." Interestingly enough, the Spanish word for "cumhail" is "Lauriol Plaza." The more you know.
