We don’t even know where to begin. Raise your house? Now you tell us! And sure, that’ll help, but why not just suggest buying an aqua-house and taking a submarine to work! And the dog? Who the hell is this talking dog? What does he know about disaster preparedness? Is it relevant that he’s brown? And why the fuck is he using obtuse bureaucrat lingo in a coloring book? Says the resident who sent this in: “If I had only ‘mitigated’ a little more, then maybe that 25 foot wall of water would have at least left me a working water heater!”

We learned today of the National Reconnaissance Office’s “NRO Junior,” previously covered by The Nation. We barely know what the NRO is, and we have the mentality of children, so we could tell immediately how perfect this site was for us. And how right we were:

Here’s a link to the OMB site listing all government programs that supposedly don’t work. Try the bottom query: “Show me the programs by TOPIC.” Of course, it doesn’t work. Maybe OMB should list their web team…

Sadly, the FEMA website for kids has downgraded the wonderful crying-kid-running-from-a-tsunami graphic. However, it still exists at the bottom left of this page (“About the FEMA director”) and seems to imply that the FEMA director is a stick-figure of a brown-skinned kid, running screaming from a tsunami:

FDA Asks for Public Input

The Food and Drug Administration took out the Friday trash last week, announcing the deferral of the approval of the Plan B “morning after pill” at 3PM on a Friday and taking four questions before “abruptly” ending the news conference. So much for opening the debate to “public comment,” though we have our doubts about going to the American people for advice on anyway; we’ll end up with a law requiring pharmacists state that Plan B is “just a theory.” A controversial and complicated scientific decision just doesn’t seem like one of those things that should go to a popular vote — look how we screwed up “Dancing with the Stars.”
