FEMAil: Guessing Game

We spent a bit of time trawling through Michael Brown’s email for that definitive piece of evidence that would exonerate him (it was the one-armed man who didn’t rescue those couple hundred black people, seriously!), but we never found anything this good.
CNN is hedging their bets re. its authenticity, but it supposedly comes from a “good friend” of Brown’s and the President’s (right, right). Assuming it’s real, we’d be happy to hear your guesses as to the sender’s identity. But that’s a pretty big assumption, considering that all we have to go on is a very clean-looking and conveniently redacted .pdf. Wait, look, we found another email!
It’s got a big Situation Room stamp on it! It has to be authentic! Wolf Blitzer’s personal seal of approval — look for it on all your sensitive and politically damning correspondence.

Brown: E-mail shows Bush glad FEMA took Katrina flak [CNN]

FEMAil: Don't Get Your Panties In a Twist

Worst part of this email: It’s always annoying when Americans adopt pretentious Britishisms. Also: we are extremely curious about the redacted portion. We’re guessing it says “Feel free to **** up royally…”

In the Midst of Disaster, One Man Never Lost Sight of His Blackberry

The Center for Public Integrity (something we’re in favor of in an abstract sense, but probably wouldn’t recognize if we saw) got their hands on 900 pages of Michael Brown’s emails during the Katrina disaster. We think a lot of the juicy stuff’s been left out or redacted, but there’s a hell of a lot to sort through, so who knows. Feel free to take a look yourself, and send us anything particularly interesting, but we think the tenor of the thing can be summed up by this one:
(Also fun is the exchange that begins with an email on page 723 with the subject “REDEEM YOURSELF BY SAVING THE ANIMALS IN THE GULF!!” — Brown, a genial sort, responds enthusiastically, leading one to wish someone had emailed him with the suggestion of saving the people there)
