Henry the intern is liveblogging today’s Alito hearing and passing along his comments. Here’s round 4. More updates after the jump.
1:14: FOX NEWS ALERT. Forget Alito. Bill Hemmer hypes a hostage situation in Florida.
1:16: Even Jim Lehrer takes a lunch break. He’s human, so he doesn’t have the endurance of Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, or Chris Matthews.
2:15: And we’re back. What did Alito have for lunch?
2:25: Kyl allows Alito to specify cases where he sided with the claim of discrimination.
2:38: Kohl: “I think you’re unique in many ways.”
2:49: Kohl asks Alito to define “traditional values.” Alito’s definition includes sparing children “psychological threats.” Alito declines to take a position on Bush v. Gore.
2:59: Wolf is talking to Candy Crowley and John King and running canned pieces about Bork. So much for being in The Situation Room, where everything is supposed to be live and “happening now.” Wolf & Company are “watching the hearings” so all we have to do is watch them talk about it?
3:05: Fox News has a lower-third Alert about hostage releases.
3:14: A man next to DeWine has been slowly and intently rubbing his nose and mouth for the past few minutes. Finally some entertainment.
3:37: Feinstein corners Alito on the Commerce Clause of the Constitution and pins him down about notification. Now it’s serious, if only we could brings ourselves to pay attention. What’s happening with the hostage situation? …
