Bolten to Suggest Replacing Zoellick With Thom Filicia

“I’m a loooooonesome schoolboy, and I just came into town…” (AP)

Queerty, the World’s Gayest Blog*, has a bit of fun at Josh Bolten’s expense, notes that the recent gift disclosure release proved Yosh’s love for Key West and the Legitimate Stage. We love a bit of sly winking as much as the next ethically questionable reckless pseudo-journalist, but we’re not entirely convinced that a friend of Dorothy would be caught dead dressed like the fellow at the top of this post.

Though any self-respecting “lifelong bachelor” of the Roy Cohn school would, of course, be romantically linked in the columns to Bo Derek. Which we caught way back in March, and the rest of you insinuators are just catching up now? Anyway, if you want more grist for your giggling whisper campaigns, how about the fact that the hed on yesterday’s Times profile of our boy compliments his “eye for detail,” then the piece opens with him literally rearranging the Roosevelt Room. Might that be a queer eye, Ms. Stolberg?

*The Drudge Report is not a blog.

Lawmakers Put Aside Differences, Bond Over Being Middle-Aged White Guys

Q: How many bass players does it take to to revive their boss’ stagnant poll numbers? (AP)

Yes, it was Seersucker Thursday, and WKRN has video.

It was goofy day overall on Capitol Hill, in fact, with the White House Congressional picnic (the closest most of the attendees will ever get to the White House), featuring live entertainment by the President’s Chief of Staff’s band, Yosh and the Shakeups (sorry, “The Compassionates”). According to Reuters, a group of lawmakers played “Free Bird,” but it doesn’t sound like The Tony Snow Free Jazz Experience performed, unfortunately. We hear he was busy that night backing up Sonic Youth on a couple Contortions covers at the 9:30 Club.

A: None. The keyboard player can do it with her left hand.

What About 'Bob'? New OMB Guy Seems Really, Really Boring

Jeez, this Rob Portman character — the new head of the Office of Management and Budget — appears to be a real sleeper. At 11:37 AM, Sen. Harry Reid’s office sent out the following statement by email:

Oops! Correction needed. At 11:58 AM, they disseminated this message (marked “CORRECTED — PLEASE USE THIS VERSION”):

The upshot? Rob Portman is SO BORING, he doesn’t even have a nickname. And certainly not a fun, vaguely fratty one, like Yosh.

Thus far, Josh Bolten’s “shake-up” isn’t adding much sizzle to the White House ranks. Where’s Bo Derek when you need her?

Yosh Sez: Shake-up or Ship Out

SHAKE UP! SHAKE UP! SHAKE UP! SHAKE UP!

Signaling a possible shake-up among President Bush's senior advisers, the new White House chief of staff told top presidential aides Monday to expect changes that ''refresh and re-energize the team.'' He invited anyone who is thinking of leaving before year's end to do so now.

Joshua Bolten, who took over the top staff job late Friday, did not ask for anyone's resignation in his first Monday morning staff meeting with the president's senior aides, presidential spokesman Scott McClellan said. No one stepped forward to say they would leave, either, McClellan said.

Oh man! A shake-up! And on the Note's day off, too! Well, not really a shake-up, but the possibility of a future shake-up is left open! It's like the same thing! Let's all speculate!

Who's Out
Snow, McClellan, uh... a couple guys we've never heard of... and Elaine Chao. Trust us. She's gone

Who's In
Domestic Policy Advisor: Lou Dobbs.
