Best Piece of Direct Mail Ever
The Hotline crew -- which sees tons of this stuff -- calls this "just about the nastiest piece of direct mail we've ever seen." It's from the California State Assembly campaign of Bill Conrad, who is arguing that his opponent in the Republican primary, Tom Berryhill, can't cut it in the general election because he had a heart transplant.
Money quote: "Tom Berryhill doesn't have the HEART for State Assembly."

Aside from its nastiness, we don't know if we agree with the premise of Conrad's campaign. People who have survived heart problems can be pretty tough old birds -- see, e.g., Dick Cheney.
