Bush: "I'm... a... warmonger"

AP080115016513.jpgPeacemaker in Chief President George W. Bush got all introspective at a sword party in Saudi Arabia today, having some things he just needed to get off his chest. "I'm sure people view me as a warmonger, and I view myself as a peacemaker," George told a friendly crowd of feudal Arab lords, astutely identifying the difference of opinion that exists on this issue.

He continued:

[People] view me as so pro-Israeli I can't be open-minded about Palestinian peace, and yet I'm the only president ever to have articulated a two-state solution. And you just have to fight through stereotypes by actions.

God, that's so true. We have often fallen prey to the to the intoxicating rhetoric of this administration's detractors and failed to judge the President on the merits of his actions. We realize now we've let the calculated words of others shape our views over the past seven years, rather than formulating them ourselves as events unfolded before us like a slow-motion film of a train plunging into a truck full of adorable puppies. Thus we failed to see the unparalleled opportunity for peace George Bush's legacy year presents us. Thanks, Prez. We never thought of it like that before.
