We're happy that the District isn't going to have to pick up the whole tab for Inauguration preparations, and using Homeland Security funds makes sense insofar as security is involved, but today the AP reports that money will also be put toward "reviewing stands for the inaugural parade and special license plates for the event." Yes, yes, combat the terrorists with special lisence plates! Seriously, we're not sure how special these license plates are, but if we're spending DHS money on them, we hope they come with missiles and stuff. Or at least duct tape.
