Easter for Procrastinators and a Revolution Born of Ice Cream, Not Teabags

Easter for Procrastinators and a Revolution Born of Ice Cream, Not Teabags
  • Saturday, April 18: The Southern Foodways Alliance brings its roving Potlikking Film Festival to Johnny's Half Shell on Capitol Hill. The Festival combines documentaries about chicken and sweet potato pie with actual for-the-eating Southern food from places like Vidalia and Creme. They are also lovingly doling out Jack Daniels and Flying Dog beer, commencing with a shot and a piece of cornbread at the door, yuuuum. 6PM to 9PM, $40 in advance. [Potlikker D.C.]
  • Through Sunday, April 19: A group of local Thai restaurants is sponsoring special menus, discounts, and a drawing for a trip for two to Thailand (political unrest be damned), in honor of the Thai new year. For a list of all the homophonically entitled food establishments participating, and a printable 10% coupon, visit the website. [Thai Restaurant Week]
  • Tuesday, April 21: Don't forget about Free Cone Day, Ben & Jerry's annual attempt to socialize ice cream delivery and hopefully finally kill off Limbaugh or Cheney, or both. There are about a dozen stores in the DC area; let the revolution begin. [Ben & Jerry's]
  • Buy tickets now: To make up for the fact that mammalian wine-tasting fest Grapes with the Apes is now all sold out, we offer you this less-wild-yet-ritzier alternative: Zaytinya is having a fancy four-course Easter dinner next Wednesday, Aprill 22. It may seem belated as Easter was celebrated by many last weekend, but Greeks do it differently, you see. Anyways, the tickets are $75 and are limited in quantity, so get them now -- this is your LAST CHANCE, until next year, to eat for Jesus. [Greek Easter Chef's Wine Dinner]
