Fox News Sued For Being Racistly Abusive To Employee

Thug life.Fox News is a place where you get promoted and given more air time for saying hateful stuff, so it's not surprising that NPR would fire Juan Williams for doing this on that channel or, say, a black employee would sue the company for people doing this around him. That latter thing has also happened, it turns out. Harmeen Jones is an erstwhile Fox News technician and a continuing black man who says he faced "a daily barrage of offensive remarks about blacks, Arabs, Muslims, Hispanics, women, and Jews." His specific accusations against his fellow employees are rather interesting.

While watching footage from a Tea Party rally, one colleague allegedly opined, "This is what happens when you mess with white people's health care."

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Jones says two of his coworkers said they wouldn't feel comfortable having a black president. At that point one of men turned to him and allegedly asked, "Am I offending your blackness?"

Jones also claims that on another occasion he was told, "You look like a gangster" and "You look like you're ready to shoot someone."

The people who said these things are probably not on-air personalities. But if we had to guess, the first one is Glenn Beck and the second one is Bill O'Reilly. And that third one, of course, is Juan Williams.

This is what Fox News gets for hiring its first black employee. [Gothamist]
