Gay-Hatin' Alabama Chief Justice Reckons He Could Use Some Civil Rights Right About Now

It's been well established that Roy Moore, the currently suspended chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, is a deeply stupid man. He's also an ideologue. Not a good combination! You'll remember that Alabama's Judicial Inquiry Commission (JIC) suspended Moore for ethics violations, because he ordered the state's probate judges to defy the United States Supreme Court's ruling on marriage equality. And why'd he do that? Because goddamn rootin' tootin' ain't no gay marriage in the Alabammy state constitution, which was authored by Roy Moore's brother from another mother, Jesus of Nazareth!

[wonkbar][/wonkbar]Well, you'd never expect this, but Judge Moore is now complaining that HIS CIVIL RIGHTS ARE BEING VIOLATED, because he's not allowed to be chief justice right now. And he's suing the JIC in federal court, because this is all SO UNFAIR:

Under the state’s Constitution — Section 159, to be exact — Moore is disqualified from sitting on the court until the charges are resolved by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary.

In response, however, Moore now has gone to the same federal courts whose rulings he earlier argued were inapplicable to him and the Alabama Supreme Court during the legal battles over same-sex couples’ marriage rights — to get those courts to issue an order that he be allowed back on the Alabama Supreme Court.

Moore asserts in his complaint: “This is a civil rights action brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. Section 1983” — the federal law that allows individuals to bring lawsuits when they allege that state officials have violated their constitutional rights — “challenging the constitutionality” of the Alabama constitutional provision.

[wonkbar][/wonkbar]OH HOW RICH! The man who's been hellbent on denying gays and lesbians their equal civil rights is now whining about his civil rights, as if he even knows what the term means. Don't you all know he's being persecuted by the homosexuals, which is not at all Christlike?

Moore's lawyers -- the same shitty Liberty Counsel lawyers who very poorly represented Kentucky clerk Kim Davis -- argue that Moore's 14th Amendment rights are being violated. Specifically, they say that his removal is "depriving Chief Justice Moore of life, liberty or property without due process of law." Did you know that life, liberty and property include the ability to be the most powerful judge on the Alabama Supreme Court at all times, even when you've been charged with ethics violations? We did not!

So, to review here: Moore does not want to abide by the rulings of the federal courts, including the Supreme Court, because they are not the boss of him, at least when their rulings involve buttfucking-based marriages prohibited by the Alabama state constitution. HOWEVER, when that same Alabama state constitution does something that makes his life tough, Moore whines to the mean gay federal courts to please fix it.

Is anybody getting the sense that Roy Moore is a very stupid man, who is also an ideologue? Wait, we already said that. Is anybody starting to get the sense that this fuckface simply thinks laws don't apply to him, because he's a stupid motherfucking True Believer dipshit?

Eh, that's still basically the same thing.
