Gelato, Pork, Beer and Seafood? Yes, Please

Wonkabout

Wednesday, April 21: Meat tastes better when it's half-off -- especially hamburgers, which are discounted by a glorious 50% on Wednesdays at the restaurant 1905 in honor of the U street neighborhood. Thankfully, you don't have to live in the area to get the discount. [1905]

  • Wednesday, April 21: Because seven is such a great number, 701 Restaurant and Bar is offering $7 specialty cocktails, including lemon drops and limoncello margaritas, Monday through Friday from 4-7PM. They are also offering a tasting menu: two courses and two wine pairings for $35, which also works because 35 is a multiple of 7. [701 Restaurant and Bar]
  • Thursday, April 22: Today, kiss mother earth, it being Earth Day and all, and eat free barbecue at the Balance Gym in Thomas Circle, it being their opening celebration and all. [Earth Day, Balance Gym Open House via Prince of Petworth]
  • Friday, April 23: As if Friday wasn't already a great day, Acadiana is making it that much better by hosting Friday Crawfish Boils. They will be serving crawfish boils (for $13 a pound), or shrimp boils (for $17 a pound) with potatoes and corn on the cob. Most importantly, they are also offering beer specials including four Abita beers for $12 or pitchers of draft beers for $15. [Acadiana]
  • Sunday, April 25: Dolcezza is opening a new location in Dupont Circle and to celebrate they will be giving away free gelato and PORK on Sunday from noon-6PM. MMM pork. And the gelato's not half bad either. [Dolcezza]
  • New Food: DC Slices is the newest food cart to hit the mean streets of DC; Ray's the Steaks has opened a new location in steak deprived Ward 7; and Star and Shamrock, a Tavern/Jewish deli that does an impeccable job mixing milk and meat, just opened on H Street.
