House Panel Yells At Miers' Empty Chair
As ordered by her former boss, the president, Harriet Miers totally ignored her subpoena and didn't show up on the Hill today. Representatives on the House Judiciary Subcommittee responded by yelling at the empty chair where she was supposed to sit.
After Linda Sanchez and John Conyers lectured the empty chair for a while, they sort of gave up and admitted they would have to sue the Bush Administration or something.
White House counsel Fred Fielding said the administration had expected that tactic, and would simply appoint Miers as judge of whatever court takes the case.
