If You Are a Republican Congressman, the FBI Would Like a Word With You
Rick Renzi, who was once Jack Abramoff for a couple minutes (and whose finest moment is still this ) joined fellow Congressman John Doolittle in the "my shit got raided" club yesterday.
Details of the raid on Patriot Insurance Agency in Sonoita, Ariz., were not immediately available. Renzi's most recent financial disclosure form lists the business as an asset belonging to his wife, Roberta, and valued at $1 million to $5 million.
The FBI has apparently been investigating Rick for a crooked land dealandfunneling government money to campaign contributors, so the raid could've been about either of those things. Rick stepped down from the House Intelligence Committee, and is expected to spend the rest of the day hiding the bodies.
The FBI hasn't formally announced anything yet, but sources say the Renzi and Doolittle raids are part of the Bureau's new "Project: Kos," a classified program designed to provide more fodder for hysterical blog comments and incoherent emails to popular political websites.
