Ivanka Trump Not Strong, Powerful Woman Immune To Sexual Harassment After All
All this week, the Trump men -- Donald and Eric, to be precise -- have been going around making much of the fact that Ivanka, unlike those weak hussies Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly, is a strong woman who would NEVER let herself be sexually harassed! Yeah, because if it were a problem for her, somehow, which it never ever has been, she would just go and get a whole nother career, or quit. Which is, of course, an option for all women across America! She would not go and sue someone and ruin their lives and cause them to lose their job at Fox News!
Carlson and Kelly -- who both care a lot about feminist issues the moment they start to affect their lives -- both responded quite appropriately.
HOWEVER! It seems that this is not a thing they checked with Ivanka on before running their mouths. As it turns out -- she actually has been sexually harassed before! She even wrote about it in her book "The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life!" Maybe they didn't read that book though, or ever even talk to her about this before speculating about what she would do? Which is kind of sad! HECK! My parents read literally everything I write every day (My mom even reads all the comments! She thinks you are all very clever and nice and smart!).
According to her book, Ivanka was often sexually harassed by construction workers who didn't know who her daddy was, and who then apologized profusely upon finding out. You know, because sexual harassment is totally fine so long as it's not your boss's daughter!
Also, in the book, she notes that not even she, Ivanka Trump, strongest woman in the world, knew exactly how to deal with those kinds of situations.
Ivanka Trump also implied the issue did bother her, enough that she had an “anxiety dream” the night before she started her first job on a development team at Forest City Ratner. She said she dreamed she was walking through the construction site with her boss when a construction worker whistled at her.
“I couldn’t shake thinking that I needed to come up with a disarming line to defuse the situation and keep the embarrassment level to a minimum,” she wrote. “After all, I kept reminding myself, my new boss would be observing my reaction, which meant that if anything like that happened it would put me into an uncomfortable, no-win situation. If I ignored the inappropriate remarks, I might come across as weak. If I responded too harshly, I’d be a tightly wound witch.”
HUH! It is almost like Ivanka Trump totally didn't just switch careers or get a new job when she was sexually harassed, but reacted the way many women do in similar situations! WEIRD! And she even had the financial ability to do that if she wanted!
Perhaps Donald Trump should spend more time talking to his daughter, and less time feeling her up, huh?
