Let's Queen Out To 'Wicked' Like The Theater Queens We Are. Your Weekly Dance Party!
Oh hello, Wonkers, it is time for our Weekly Dance Party, where we shuffle our own personal iTunes machine and post the first ten songs that come up, and we all dance and exchange merriment in the comments, in the form of other songs we are listening to!
BUT FIRST. Do you guys like The Musicals? We like them muchly, and that is the gayest thing about us. Do you like the musical called Wicked? We do! So there is this thing happening right now called Out of Oz: Wicked Studio Sessions, where, according to BroadwayDirect, "favorite Wicked alumni and current performers sing reimagined versions of Wicked songs." Sounds lovely!
And this new recording of original cast members Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth singing "For Good" is so lovely we may have shed a tear. You listen to it now!

OK, this is usually the part where we say, "And here is your music." But we must cut in and force you to indulge us for a moment, about the second song on the list. You see, the singer, Di Anne Price, was a Memphis-based blues singer and pianist, beloved by thousands in this city yr Wonkette calls home. Her talent was out of this world, and she deserves to be remembered WAY outside of Memphis, for what she could do. She bristled at being called a singer. No, babies, she was a STORYTELLER.
The reason we bring this up is that she was also yr Wonkette's second mama. Oh, it wasn't just me. She had dozens of folks in Memphis she was close to, who were fortunate enough to be counted as her "babies," and she was devoted to each and every one. 'Twas three years ago we lost her, but I just wanted you to know about her.
Here's a picture of me, yr Wonkette, playing HER PIANO, with a picture of her in the foreground:
