Lieberman/Lamont: Let's Do This
Pictures: Getty Images.
Things sound great for Lamont, but administer salt in liberal doses. (1% of precints reporting: 57.9% to 42.1% for Ned)
Absentee ballots and turnout are both pro-Lamont, exit polling is closely-guarded, but people who know people who know people say it's the same story.
( Hotline has McKinney down -- WHERE WERE THE WONKETTE READERS?)
(rest of this mess now after the jump -- relive the magic!)
8: 40:60/40 w/ 4% reporting. Blah blah blah. The Lamont party's way happier, that's what counts.
McKinney still apparently down. WTF GEORGIA.
8: 45:7% reporting: 56% to 44%, still Ned. Casual exit polling has a (often VERY) slight Ned lead still, including in the "urban" areas that were favored to Joe.
8: 50:We really don't feel like updating any more until enough precints are in to actually matter. Right now: Lamont 56.65%, Lieberman 43.35%, 9.22% in.
9: 10:17% reporting. 56/44 Ned. Still. Lieberman party allegedly quiet. "On edge." We are allegedly drunk. CBS/NYT keeping their exit polling super top secret. Healy, call us.
9: 15:25% reporting and Lieberman is slooooowly closing the gap. 55/45, still Ned. Conn Sec of State website down: BLOGGERS TO BLAME?
9: 22:Hotline:
GA 04 (D) Johnson 74% McKinney 26% 26% in
One voter went to vote and my name didn't appear on the ballot. The voter went and complained, and then when she went back to cast her vote, my name was on the ballot.
The machine that tallies the total vote broke down at Stronghold Church around 2: 10 pm. At 3:15 it's still down.
Lamont loses New Britain, which is a surprise. Alan Colmes is at the Lamont party.
9: 30:If Joe loses, he apparently gains Republican support. 44% reporting, 53/47 Ned.
9: 35:WE ARE RUNNING DANGEROUSLY LOW ON TONIC.
9: 40:McKinney releases statement:
I wish it would have been another
How long will they mourn me
How long will they mourn my campaign
(Got them House careers all dead and shit)
56.55% reporting. 52.17% Lamont, 47.83% Lieberman.
9: 55:74% reporting. 51.7% Lamont. 48.2% Lieberman.
Representative McKinney (behind 74/26),
Don'cha know we love ya? Sweet lady,
Dear mama,
Place no one above ya, sweet lady
You are appreciated--
Don'cha know we love ya?
10: 11:TWINS WIN IN DETROIT!
10: 20:Lanny Davis -- who isnot Manny Davis -- sounds cranky. WTIC reporter asks something about "The Lamont Challenge," we are imagining Joe drinking plastic cup labeled "Brand X," making his sad little Droopy face. Anyway, 48 to 52 still! Hooray!
(Lanny -- Joe's campaign guru -- can't quite square the "Joe is popular with Repubs, Independents, andDems line with the "Joe is a progressive" line, and doesn't care to hear about the forthcoming Republican support)
Lanny (paraphrase): "We welcome Bill Cinton's support, Hillary Clinton's support, Osama-- uh..."
10: 20:
DRUDGE DECLARES IT FOR NED. SIRENS EVERYWHERE!
10: 30FUCK THIS, WE'RE DONE. IT'S 52/48 LAMONT, GO TO BED OR SOMETHING.
