McKinney's Latest Gaffe: Not Swearing Hard Enough
It must be a slow news day in Atlanta, as theJournal-Constitutionis currently leading with another Cynthia McKinney "gaffe." Skipping past the obnoxious non-sequiter lede, let's see what all the fuss is about:
The flap-plagued congresswoman, who has been in the media spotlight since she scuffled with a Capitol Hill police officer last month, was caught bad-mouthing a senior staffer Saturday.
[...]
"Crap!" an irritated McKinney is heard saying after ending an interview with CBS 46 in which reporter Renee Starzyk repeatedly asked about the fallout from the police dust-up. "You know what? They lied to Coz and Coz is a fool."
"Crap"?"Crap"? That's the gaffe? This is a congresswoman who's known primarily (as of late) forpunching a cop, and someone's upset about her calling her communications director a "fool"? Her communications director clearlyisa fool, as anyone paying attention to press coverage of McKinney can see.
We're disappointed in everyone involved, but Representative McKinney has disappointed us the most. Between the cop-punching and the Tupac-quoting, we'd hoped her accidentally still-on-mic remarks would be a little more... profane. Tupac, surely, never used the word "crap" in his life, what with so many more vulgar and satisfying synonyms available. Representative McKinney, we demand you go back on tv as soon as possible and say something genuinely offensive -- if you're not calling your CoS a cocksucking sonuvabitch by May, we may have to rethink our support.
