Of Course Jew-Hating Scum Queen Ann Coulter Is Terrible. But She's Right (This One Time)
She's still terrible though
Wicked twat goblin Ann Coulter watched Wednesday's Republican debate from the rancid sulfuric swamp where she dwells, wistfully recalling her glory days of moderate relevance during the last millennium, before other hot leggy blondes in skimpy dresses usurped her Poutrageous Conserva-Chick throne. Between gulps of kitten blood, she pounded her age-spotted hands on her keyboard, hoping someone, anyone please at all, would notice:
The reactions to Coulter were unsurprisingly angry, even from her fellow conservatives. But Coulter, who has never apologized for anything, did not back down.
Is Ann Coulter a loathsome Jew-hating maggot turd stuffed into last season's little black dress? Undoubtedly. But that's not new. Here she is in 2007, describing, during an interview on CNBC with Donny Deutsch, her ideal America:
"It would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention," Coulter replied. "In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like."
Asked to expand on the theme, Coulter said "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America."
Deutsch, growing at once incredulous and offended, responded "So we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?" to which Coulter answered with a simple yes, later inviting Deutsch to attend church with her.
DEUTSCH: We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then?
COULTER: Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track.
Deutsch then suggested similarities between Coulter's position and that of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
DEUTSCH: "Let's wipe Israel off the earth." I mean, what, no Jews?
COULTER: No, we think - we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.
DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?
COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws.
Is her unapologetic desire to eliminate Jews from America, by "perfecting" them, far more egregious than throwing an F-bomb at them in a Tweet? Yes, it fucking is. It also happens to be a not uncommon belief expressed by Christian conservatives who insist that America is, or at least should be, a Christian nation, though perhaps not always worded quite as explicitly.
In 2007, for example, presidential candidate John McCain -- hardly the poster boy for Christian evangelicals -- said that because "this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles," he would "prefer someone who I know has a solid grounding in my faith" for president. Aside from tiptoeing right up to the line of unconstitutionality, since we do not have religious tests for office in this country, it was also rather laughable, given that his first and only choice for vice president was the decidedly not Christian Joe Lieberman.
On Wednesday night, however, the internet appeared to discover for the first time that Ann Coulter does not particularly care for Jews. Or at least that is what the internet concluded her "fucking Jews" and eye-rolling at mentions of Israel had to mean.
Except that Coulter insisted she was attacking not Jews, or fucking Jews, but Republican presidential candidates who obsessively invoke Israel and declare their love for the nation and, occasionally, The Jewish People. And she was -- though it causes us excruciating intestinal pain to say so -- correct.
The relatively recent fetishization of Israel and The Jews, as we have noted once or twice or a thousand times before, is a grotesque attempt to attack President Obama and to pander, not to the 7 million or so Jews in America, but, as Coulter rightly notes, the white evangelicals who "support" Israel only to the extent that it is necessary to their apocalyptic fantasies in which they go to Heaven and all those fucking Jews burn in hell.
This is why Republicans have come to embrace Israel, putting its priorities even before America's. Not out of love or concern for the security and continued existence of the Jewish people, but out of spite toward President Obama and for their own selfish imagined afterlife. This is why the very same conservatives Ann Coulter attacked Wednesday night -- Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz, in particular -- speak constantly about Obama's supposed anti-Semitism against the nation of Israel, but never ever NOT ONCE do they address actual anti-Semitism against American Jews. Because they do not care. They are as anti-Semitic as Coulter, sans the expletives, perhaps, regardless of how many Jewish friends they claim to have, and they share her dreams of a Christian nation, as they fret about the non-existent "criminalization of Christianity."
For example, twice as many white evangelical Protestants as Jews say that Israel was given to the Jewish people by God (82% vs. 40%). […] White evangelical Protestants also are more likely than Jews to favor stronger U.S. support of Israel.
Yes, Ann Coulter is a rotten, terrible, despicable, ugly excuse for a human being. She is also a washed up has-been of little relevance and zero influence, whose name only occasionally pops up now and again when she stumbles upon an especially hateful nugget to spew from the foul-stenched hole in her face.
Let us not be distracted by the shiny object of Coulter's semi-expletive about Jews, though. The far more important point is the Republican Party's cynical and disgusting use of Israel and Jews to pander to those evangelicals who, like Coulter, dream of "perfecting" Jews out of existence. That is worth some fucking discussion.
