A lot of the early Disney animators went over to Warner Brothers where the environment was a lot different. Schlesinger basically gave the animators an old warehouse/office space on the lot (dubbed Termite Terrace) and told them to just make good cartoons to fill a few minutes before the WB feature films. The results (IMO) are far more spontaneous and fun than ANYTHING Disney ever produced. THe WB animators were notorious drunks and roustabouts as well, they would have never fit in with Walt's tightass midwestern "ethic".

I met someone who worked for Disney as an illustrator. You'd think that would be a dream job for an artist.

Yeah...no. He GTFO as soon as he could FFS.
