Reasons To Ride the Gentrification Line
Thursday, August 26, and Friday, August 27: Women don't like baseball and neither do kids with peanut allergies, but both breeds are being lured to Nationals Stadium this week by jewelry, handbags and EpiPens. On Thursday, the Nationals are hosting a Vegas themed pre-game party complete with massages and manicures for all womenfolk in DC. On Friday, they're creating a peanut-free section so kids with this life impediment can enjoy a game without the prospect of death. [Ladies Night and Peanut Free Night with the Nationals]
Saturday, August 28: If you can get Hezbollah or Hamas to smuggle you into Columbia Heights this Saturday, there you will see hipsters at Columbia Heights Day celebrating their natural habitat. The certified hipster celebratory activities include a vegan cupcake eating contest, a bike tour of Columbia Heights and free yoga. [Columbia Heights Day]
Saturday, August 28: The other Saturday adventure on the Green Line that also just so happens to involve the hipster underbelly of DC is the Brightest Young Thing'sBeverly Hills 90210-themed pool party at the Capitol Skyline Hotel. You can either go back to the '80s at the pool party or back to the Stone Age if you choose to brave the loonies on the Mall. Neither will disappoint. [ BYT Summer Camp ]
(More) Restaurant Week: DC's Restaurant Week may(basically) be over, but ALEXANDRIA is hosting its own Restaurant week today through August 29. Which is great, because nothing make Washingtonians happier than ordering off a price-fixed menu. [ Alexandria Restaurant Week ]
Food to Look Forward to: What had been the CPK on Connecticut Avenue NW will soon be an Italian dining spot; Brace yourself, a chain restaurant, Panera Bread, is coming to Dupont Circle; And some Mediterranean on Mediterranean action is about to happen as Pitazzi Mediterranean Delites just opened across the street from Astor Mediterranean in Adams Morgan.
