Rove Innocent! (Of the Plame Thing, at Least)
Things in Michael Isikoff's piece naming Karl Rove as Matt Cooper's source that we didn't already know:
•Rove didn't break the law: "Nothing in the Cooper e-mail suggests that Rove used Plame's name or knew she was a covert operative."
•There is a category of privilege of called "double super secret background." It's a technical term.
•Matt Cooper is a fine actor: "Rove was the secret source who, at the request of both Cooper's lawyer and the prosecutor , gave Cooper permission to testify." Italics very much ours. So much for that surprise last-minute "personal communication" and pulling back from the brink of prison. Or maybe Superdad always parts with his son by telling him "it might be a long time before I see him again."
