Child prostitution is awesome. Two very sexy Tennessee pastors were among 32 people arrested recently for responding to ads promising to let them have sex with underage girls.
A sting by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation netted the men, who we assume are very, very sorry to have been caught. (Ahem, innocent until proven guilty, "allegedly," etc. But while we are fairly good civil libertarians, we don't buy complaints about entrapment any more than we do when the Fibbies talk some nut into trying to blow up a bridge. Sure, it might have been someone else's idea, but if you agree to try to blow up a bridge, or meet underage girls at the Best Western Knoxville Suites, to have sex with them, that is really on you.)
Zubin Parakh, 32, is the "creative pastor" at Lifehouse Church, because he is a hipster who looks like this:
Jason Kennedy, 46, was the "children's pastor" at Grace Baptist Church, because of course he was. He just looks like a gross old man instead of a disgusting hipster pastor, so we will not bother showing you his picture.
"Operation Someone Like Me" used ads on Backpage.com -- operated by your editrix's former bosses at New Times media whose decision to foreswear newspapers in order to stay in the skin game was probably a poor one, as they've been targeted for multiple suits alleging they are trafficking women for sex -- to arrange meetings with (thankfully) fictional girls.
If you want to read about some sex crimes by pastors against unfictional girls and boys, Dan Savage's Youth Pastor Watch should keep you busy for the rest of your life. Because it's all about the children, and at least those guys weren't gay.
Sexy Tennessee Pastors Just Wanted To Sex Up Some Underage Girls, Is That So Wrong
Yep and yep.
Some places do more thorough background checks than others, but I suspect there's a lot of the good-old-boy network/"personal references" going on in the hiring process.
(And, yes, a lot of people with this problem are *very* interested in the working-with-kids jobs so they can get access.)
Much love to you, and the other survivors.
