The Reuters Pre-Party Drink Menu: Let the Arms Race Begin

martini%20glass.jpeg

As noted by The Hill and FishBowlDC, this year Bloomberg faces some stiff competition in the party department -- from the good folks at Reuters. And Reuters is bringing its A-game, with an elaborate menu of custom-made, politically-themed drinks, to be served at their pre-dinner party.

Here are three of our favorites:

The Condoleezza
Clear, perfectly chilled, very strong, and 100 percent rice.

The Alito
Still a mystery blend, though a slightly more liberal pour than expected. You may request Miers instead, but you're not going to get it.

McKinney's (Upper) Cut
This libation really packs a punch.

The complete list appears after the jump. Cheers!

So here's the memo and full drinks list, from Reuters:

"In conjunction with this year's Washington Correspondents' dinner (this Saturday, April 29th), Reuters is planning on celebrating the bicentennial of the cocktail with a specially crafted, politically-flavored drink menu that will be served at their pre-dinner party at the Hilton Hotel. The menu is below. The ingredients can be made available if you like."

Tongue Twister
The President's personal pre-speech drink. The carefully selected
ingredients can get muddled when shaken. Part flat, part sparkling, and sometimes really sharp, this libation needs no alcohol.

The Cheney Shot
Made with your choice of Wild Turkey or Famous Grouse. Duck is not just a bird it's also a verb.

The Condoleeza
Clear, perfectly chilled, very strong, and 100 percent rice.

The Alito
Still a mystery blend, though a slightly more liberal pour than
expected. You may request Miers instead, but you're not going to get it.

Deep Throat
Though it's not available at the Watergate Hotel, you can find this
smooth drink with a deep dark secret at The Ritz-Carlton, where it was invented.

McKinney's (Upper) Cut
This libation really packs a punch.

White Wine Spitzer
This by-the-book cocktail offers sufficient hydration to sustain you
throughout the evening with little chance of pleasure.

Hillary's Manhattan
The classic northern cocktail with southern roots, seriously diluted.

Rove Rage
Notch up a few decibels and let loose a little righteous anger with this energy boost* optionally available in decaf for intra-party matters.

Barack O'Bomber
A favorite with the younger set. Expect this cocktail to mellow and
develop some subtlety in about five years.

Delightful! And Gawker Media may have an operative in attendance at this fete. To those of you who'll be there, we look forward to sharing a "Deep Throat" with you.
