This Is Just A Really Great Cover Of 'Purple Rain.' Your Weekly Dance Party!

Artwork bySarah Beetson

Oh look, time for our weekly Wednesday Wonkette dance party! And it has a Prince theme again!

[wonkbar][/wonkbar]We all know that ever since Prince passed, artists have been coming out of the woodwork to pay tribute in their own way, some great, some not so great. One of the GREATEST was country dude Chris Stapleton's cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U." Another lovely one, which we happened to be in the audience for, was Beck's performance of "Raspberry Beret" at the Beale Street Music Festival.

And now we have a new entry, one which at first glance made us very, very skeptical. Look, we like Amanda Palmer, even though we know a lot of the internet does not, for their own #reasons. That's fine. But we were skeptical, because we just didn't know what she, with her very unique voice, was going to do with "Purple Rain." And then we heard it was ten minutes long.

Well fuck it, might as well listen to it, and oh what's this? It's actually pretty great! It's a string quartet version, recorded with her pal Jherek Bischoff, and it even includes the intro to "Let's Go Crazy." Will you like it? WE DON'T CARE. You are entitled to your own 'pinion.

If you like it, it costs one dollar at the Bandcamp, and the proceeds go to the Elevate Hope Foundation, which Amanda Palmer explains Prince and Sheila E. cofounded to provide "therapy through music for abused and abandoned kids." GOOD CAUSE!

OK, now it is time to spin the Wheel Of iTunes and post the first ten songs that come up AT RANDOM. Oh, and there are actually 11 songs this week, because for whatever reason numbers three and four are on the same track, on our iTunes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 1. Björk - "5 Years"
 2. Lauryn Hill - "Doo Wop (That Thing)"
 3. Aztec Camera - "Back On Board"
 4. Aztec Camera - "Down The Dip"
 5. Tracy Chapman - "She's Got Her Ticket"
 6. Suuns - "Gaze"
 7. Water Liars - "Dog Eaten"
 8. Lady Gaga - "Government Hooker"
 9. Lukah Luciano - "Fvcked Up"
 10. The Spearmint Sea - "Two"
 11. Joni Mitchell - "Turbulent Indigo"

And here is your music:

And now you are in the comments, dancing and sharing your music and just generally fellowshipping with each other like common Baptists, awwwww.
