Trump-Supporting NYU Dudebro Super Terrified Of Mean Campus Liberals
It's hard out there for a Trump
[wonkbar]a href="http://wonkette.com/549097/deleted-comments-of-the-day-let-a-wingnut-explain-free-speach-to-you-leftists"[/wonkbar]Fox & Friends brings us a shocking tale of Political Correctness Run Amok on our college campuses, in the form of an interview with an NYU engineering major (OF COURSE he's an engineering major!) who has had his freedom of speach denied by hotheaded campus liberals who -- we hope you're sitting down -- openly disagree with him. NYU political pariah Dylan Perara sat down with Brian Kilmeade Monday to share his brave tale of survival in a hostile campus atmosphere.
Kilmeade introduced the segment -- subtly titled "NYU Trump supporters fear for their safety on campus" on the Fox News website -- with a pointed rhetorical question:
Aren't college campuses supposed to be a haven of tolerance and open-mindedness? That's what we thought; it appears it's not that way anymore, as long as -- well, maybe you can be open, as long as you don't vote for Donald Trump. That's what students at NYU who support the Republican front-runner are finding out the hard way. Students there claim they face insults, threats and intimidation from fellow students just for expressing their political beliefs, so [sic] even fear for their grades in some respects!
Oh noes! A hostile campus environment? We thought rightwingers were the ones who mock the idea of "safe spaces," but apparently Trump supporters face real retaliation from Marxist professors who give them bad grades! Of course, Perara never actually says that he or anyone he knows has gotten a bad grade for being a Trump supporter, but they're awfully afraid it might happen, which is the same as actually being oppressed, isn't it? Perara does share one horrifying encounter, though, telling a Very Concerned Kilmeade about the time he was spoken to quite harshly. Kilmeade walks Perara through his trauma, like Oprah talking to a victim of domestic abuse:
Perara: This girl, she started yelling at me, screaming at me, calling me a ‘racist’ and a ‘fascist’ and all these other grand claims just because it came up I was a Trump supporter...
Kilmeade: Were you stunned?
Perara: I was stunned at how negative the reaction was, and how emotional the reaction was.
Wow, that is some pretty oppressive stuff! So much hate, just because she saw his "Make America Great Again" hat? Well, actually, no, he was "having a conversation" when it came up -- he's too afraid to wear the hat anywhere but at College Republican meetings, the poor oppressed darling.
Nonetheless, despite all the derision and mocking when he bravely says he's supporting Trump, Perara vows,
I’m gonna hold strong -- but it is discouraging; I know other people are afraid to say anything, and afraid to come out, just because they're afraid of losing friends or they're afraid of getting a bad grade, just because they might get on the bad side of a professor.
Good heavens, what has freedom come to in America when people might stop being your friend simply because you support a screaming fascist? Is that even legal? And again, Perara doesn't say he or anyone he knows has been retaliated against with a bad grade -- which really would be a violation of his rights -- but gosh, he's askeered, which is all that counts.
Perara also has advice for people who may dislike Trump: Just listen to him, really listen to him. After Kilmeade coaches him, "You say go beyond the sound bite," Perara explains,
I want them to really listen to everything he has to say, in context, and really understand what he's trying to say. And I think if people really listen to his full speech they’ll have a completely different view of him.
[wonkbar]a href="http://wonkette.com/597241/politifact-lie-of-the-year-is-every-single-word-out-of-donald-trumps-face-hole"[/wonkbar]Ah, the innocent optimism of the Fan.* Give it a try and you'll grok Trump, man, it's inevitable. Except for how the more we listen to Trump, the less sense he makes, the more he contradicts himself, and of course, the more he spews out lie after lie. This is a proven fact -- the guy lies about almost everything.
The therapy session ends with Kilmeade giving Perara the chance to dress up like Princess Leia and say "Help us, Donald. You're our only hope":
“You know, Donald Trump watches this show,” Kilmeade ended the interview by saying. “What would you say to him?”
“Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll be our next president,” Perera said to the camera. He also claimed that, should Trump win, he would proudly wear the candidate’s “Make America Great Again” hat around campus.
