Washington Post Is Firing Everyone
Post executive editor Leonard "Junior" Downie sent out a scary memo today saying reporters would be forced to have actual beats, learn to write reasonably short articles and help make him feel like Ben Bradlee as the paper continues to lose circulation.
The Post will get rid of most stock tables -- really, is there anyone who checks stock prices in tomorrow's newspaper? -- and "shrink the newsroom staff through attrition." Readers won't notice how little news is in the new Washington Post, Downie said, because print subscribers are very old and rarely notice anything.
