Yosh Up, Card Down: Meet the New Chief of Staff
So Andrew Card is out (and the writing has been on the wall for a little while now). Our sources indicate that it was another case of unexpected Ambien side effects that had caused Card to accidentally sleep-administrate for going on five years now.
The new guy: budget chief Josh Bolten. Nickname: Yosh. Former Card deputy, natch -- we have never once believed the "gray-beard" old-GOP establishment guy line, and neither has the President -- and, therefore, just as "tired" and "worn-out" or whatever as everyone else. In fact, as a front line veteran of the Social Security debacle, probably just about as tired as Rove -- but we're not holding it against him, 'cause we're fucking exhausted too, frankly.
And like your Roves or yours Hugheses, he's been a Bush guy since Texas. Still, though, he's got something of a reputation as a decent sort, the kind the Press Corps like -- there's not a lot of dirt on him, and he's got a reputation as a non-tool.
Fresh blood, though, he is decidedly not. Oh, and there's this:
Bolten, who is unmarried, has made the gossip columns partly thanks to his bikes. News photographers caught him giving a ride on one of his bikes to actress Bo Derek, of 10 fame, during a Bikers for Bush rally in Flint, Michigan, in November 2000.
And, you know, we're not sayin', we're just sayin'...
Congrats, still, to Yosh. Wish him luck. He needs it.
