  • John McCain got money from an Oregon venture capitalist named Craig Berkman even though Berkman stole $5 million from his investment partners. [Washington Post]
  • People short on cash are skipping preventive care, which translates to higher bills in the end. Many, many depressing anecdotes in this story. [Wall Street Journal]

Of course, healthcare would be worse if it were single payer. Those awful screenings and horrifying visits to doctors. Instead it’s better for US America to just let people die.

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said that Berkman’s problems were overlooked by a “[b]skeleton staff[/b]” that “was obviously focused on winning primaries.”

Re: Healthcare – Last time I checked, a jog around the block was free. Americans just need to get up off their fat asses for a grand total of 90 minutes a week.

[re=42002]MoodProcessor[/re]: Yeah, we’d all be fit as fiddles until we got hit by a car. This happened to me. I got in a car accident and had my ACL and meniscus torn in my knee. I spent 8 years with knee pain (plus re-injury every few months) until I went to school and had insurance to pay for surgery. It turns out that I developed bone bruises and spurs during the 8 years that made my surgery more difficult. Fun!

Yes, I’m bitter.
