  • Last night the White House & Friends finalized Paulson’s $700 billion bailout plan. It’s a lot better than the original version, because both sides made Important Sacrifices. [Wall Street Journal]
  • Oh hooray, the House is voting today on Paulson’s Famous Bailout Plan, with the Senate voting maybe as soon as Wednesday, and people for the most part think it’s going to pass. But still, all taxpayers in America hate Hank Paulson and his stupid plan. [Washington Post]
  • Obama and McCain are pretending they’re fine with the plan, but Obama says he was holed up with Paulson in a bailout shelter filled with calculators for days while McCain was just pretended to do this thing. [AP]
  • Thanks to the vagueness of his new Plan, Demigod of the Treasury Hank Paulson now has unseemly amounts of power, more so than every other financier, ever. [Los Angeles Times]
  • Citigroup and Wells Fargo are said to be in competition over Wachovia, which is failing and up for grabs. [Reuters]

“Obama says he was holed up with Paulson in a bailout shelter filled with calculators for days while McCain was just pretended to do this thing.”

That’s because Walnuts was shaking his fist at his abacus & snarling “damn you, technology!”

I wonder if those 34 people in Bagdad know that the surge worked?

4tehlulz September 29, 2008 at 8:39 am

The surge is a working strategy; it is also a tactic to show that the surge works.

Hunter Gathers September 29, 2008 at 8:39 am

This week WALNUTS! will try a new stunt : suspending his campaign so he can fellate all of the major network talking heads, so they’ll love him again. Then the meme will become “Why won’t Obama suck me off?”

Why won’t CNN acknowledge that we’ve won in Iraq? CNN is not ready to be President.

“Free Sarah Palin!”

That’s what the cool kids are saying this morning.

wheelie September 29, 2008 at 9:00 am

With this new plan, the American economy is safe and secure for the foreseeable week.

wall street started 1842 at ” … curbstone on Broad Street near Exchange Place. The curb brokers gathered around the lamp posts and mail boxes … “. now these peddlers wag the dog (and they worry about asian markets).
actually i’m more concerned that my neighbor’s dog doesn’t poop on my driveway.

i’m done.

[re=113133]Hunter Gathers[/re]: That’s McCain’s only hope now. In a desperate bid to illustrate his flexibility, John McCain will suck his own dick right on the stage.

PandoraSpocks September 29, 2008 at 9:07 am

Nobody, including Pelosi, knows if they have the votes to pass this damned thing.
That is all.

ManchuCandidate September 29, 2008 at 9:13 am

Walnuts would have been more active in this “bailout” if:
a) He hadn’t uttered those words so often in his youth.
b) If the casinos, I mean, investment banks comped him a hotel suite with 10 hookers, renamed Derivatives to Mathematics Craps and handed him some dice.

[re=113150]ManchuCandidate[/re]: Well put. Roll dem bones, Johnnie!

[re=113173]Serolf Divad[/re]: Is our little intern all growed up now?

Miller September 29, 2008 at 10:24 am

I just want to give Hank Paulson the power over life and death. I hope that’s in the bailout bill. He seems so trustworthy.

I don’t trust the morning briefing if it doesn’t come from Sara.

Free Sara K. Smith!

I like my intern-surnames the same way I like my adult videos.

Full of Weiner.

TJBeck September 29, 2008 at 12:57 pm

[re=113262]liquiddaddy[/re]: iphone. Everyone is running around freaking out with no internet, lights or phones.. I spent the whole morning reading wonkette, 538.com, rcp, tpm etc., and avoiding work. So, sort of a normal day for me.

voyetra8 September 29, 2008 at 1:15 pm

Can we walk about what happens if Obama votes for this bill, and that old maverick McCain vote against it, claiming it’s wrong for the American people?

THe Obama camp says Obama is going to vote on it. McCain camp is currently saying “We *hope* to be able to vote on it.” which we all know is code for “We’re not gonna vote on it.”

Paul Tardy September 29, 2008 at 1:42 pm

I think the bail out would sell better if it were for $699.95 billion. I am suprised they didn’t teach that to Paulson in Ivy League toff school.
