Oh ho ho, that Pennsylvania GOP has discovered some crazy black preacher in Obama’s past just in time for election day, thank heavens. Whoa… we’re only a few seconds into the deal and man oh man, this guy is nuts! What is he talking about, “God Damn America!” HOW COULD HE SAY THAT?? Boy howdy he just keeps on going! If only the Obama campaign had gotten this guy out of the way earlier, say, in March, amidst a tumultuous primary battle in this very same Pennsylvania. Then the damage might have been done, and no one would care right now! [TPM]

Half-Price Muslin November 2, 2008 at 2:57 pm

D’oh, I forgot how SCARY these blacks is. That decides it! Thanks, PA GOP!

Quietly November 2, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Psh, this can’t be real. Everyone knows Obama is a Muslin terrorist.

DoctorCulturae November 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm

Yes, but, but, but… “Sad Grampa” McCain was so “nice” and “lovable” on SNL last night!

He would never okay the Southern Strategy AGAIN, would he ???!!!!1!

I am SO surprised! Oh my, oh my!

Servo November 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm

Sorry, McCorpse. It’s too late. Everybody is onto your predictable character assassinations and your attempts to divide and conquer. I recommend that you save a fraction of dignity for your and Moose Maid’s departure. B-Bye.

loganmo November 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm

that ad is running in the DC market too

Tommy Says Soooo November 2, 2008 at 3:05 pm

I like the footage of Hopey flying the jet into the Twin Towers as waving as he does it.

TinyTheToga November 2, 2008 at 3:06 pm

[re=159929]loganmo[/re]: He’ll lose PA but at least it’ll push Obama over the 98% line in DC

Jedibiah who?

Kaylub November 2, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Does it count as a November suprise if it’s like eight months old…?

Mrs. K November 2, 2008 at 3:14 pm

I just saw another Wright commercial while I was watching this one – I think it might be divine intervention. I’m going to go ask for my vote back and vote for McCain. God wants me to.

nmmagayar November 2, 2008 at 3:15 pm

awww – they left my favorite part about flying cocks

itchnscratch November 2, 2008 at 3:21 pm

That’s it! There is NO WAY I am voting for Jeremiah Wright now!

Hooray For Anything November 2, 2008 at 3:22 pm

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s big ad which features William Ayers, Rev. Wright, and Obama’s aunt all hanging and discussing Mao’s Little Red Book while eating watermelons in an ACORN HQ in the Castro.

Texan Bulldoggette November 2, 2008 at 3:25 pm

Just saw the ad on MSNBC in TX. What a weird ad buy pattern.

StrangelyBrown November 2, 2008 at 3:33 pm

Way to go, John McCain: most presidents don’t become lame ducks until after they’re elected.

I read the article and the Republican’s Jewish friends say that supporting Obama is supporting a second Holocaust…
Well check this out.

It’s okay, Republicans — he only means God damn fake America. You racists and bitters in real America are down with that, right?

Weeping Jesus November 2, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Why do I think of the line from Cool Hand Luke: “I don’t like this any more than you do.”

I’m guessing that’s McCain’s motto.

The dick.

Well all the poorz in NE and SE listen to Buchanan’s funny about how the votz happens on Friday instead, maybe Walnutz and Caribou Barbie have a shot in Chocolate City.

WTF!!!!!!1! This ran on MSNBC in ILLINOIS (Chicago market, anyhoos). O HAI ur barking up teh rong tree.

Cogito Ergo Bibo November 2, 2008 at 3:59 pm

They showed this ad in central Virginia, too. It isn’t often that I’m staring aghast at my television in quite that way, without Geraldo being involved.

Neilist November 2, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Gee, I hear Rev. Wright, and am reminded of how popular “Rev.” Jim Jones was with the San Francisco Democrats.

But that’s a bit unfair.

After all, Jones took himself out, along with 900 or so of his followers.

For that, the Gene Pool is eternally grateful.

Rumor has it that the first move of the Barack/Biden administration will be to replace the National Anthem with “God Damn America.”

With NWA substituting for Kate Smith.

Neon Trotsky November 2, 2008 at 4:01 pm

Ugh, I never thought Bob Barr had such anti-American tendencies. Libertarian party, you lost my vote!

FreshCliches November 2, 2008 at 4:06 pm

Oh, it’s about THAT one. I was expecting Reverend Manning from ATLAH.

wade williams November 2, 2008 at 4:09 pm

how long would my car last if i had a bumper sticker ‘not god bless amerika! god damn amerika!’ here in ‘palin country’?

smellyal8r November 2, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Careful all. PA doesn’t have early voting and this is a nice reminder for all those “independents” and “Republicans who hate McCain” about this particular piece of Obama’s past. I’m sure this will now be in rotation for the next two days. Sen Obama? A reply? Please. Hello?

Dreamer November 2, 2008 at 4:36 pm

What is interesting about this add is how they bleeb “God damn America” – it makes it seem as though he is saying something obscene.

Braised Cod November 2, 2008 at 5:16 pm

The best they can do with the “Guilt By Association” game is Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko. Consider this: Shafig bin Laden (Osama bin Laden’s older brother) was the guest of honor at a meeting of the defense contractor The Carlyle Group in Washington DC on September 11, 2001. Who else was at that meeting? George H. W. Bush, 41st President of the United States and father of the sitting president. During the disastrous days that followed and while all non-military aircraft were grounded, President George W. Bush permitted the bin Ladens and other members of the Saudi Royal family to leave the US on a private plane without so much as an interview. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bin_Laden_family Were these facts applied to Obama, they would probably be having a stroke right now. Instead they voted for that “terrorist loving” dumb-ass in 2004.

smellyal8r November 2, 2008 at 5:26 pm

[re=160066]Braised Cod[/re]: Agreed and this is a very late desperation throw. This won’t change anyone’s mind, but will remind some undecideds of why they don’t want to vote for Obama. Obama’s guilt by association ad needs to be the current “McCain voted with Bush 90 percent of the time” and the new one about Cheney’s endorsement.

DoctorCulturae November 2, 2008 at 5:31 pm

[re=160083]smellyal8r[/re]: Agreed-agreed-agreed!

Bush=McCain=Cheney!!!!!1!

gurukalehuru November 2, 2008 at 5:54 pm

They are spending good money to run this ad in Texas, DC and Illinois? The McCain campaign has to be the most incompetent campaign since Hillary Clinton.
…and remember that Barry won his Senate seat over Alan Keyes, after whatzisname 7 of 9′s husband, permanent winner of the “greedy bastard didn’t know how good he had it” award, totally imploded.
What is this bizarre political talent of our ebony inspiration, that makes his opponent’s just fall completely apart?

Neilist November 2, 2008 at 6:02 pm

[re=160066]Braised Cod[/re]: When Barack Obama sits in a church pew for 20 years and listens to Rev. Wright “God Damn America!,” it’s “guilt by association.”

When Sarah Palin attends some weirdo snake-handling fundie synod, it’s “conclusive evidence of unfitness for office.”

What was that line from Blake? “A foolish inconsistency is the hobgoblin of the liberal mind?”

No, wait, “the little mind.” Sorry. I keep getting the two confused.

Fringe Element November 2, 2008 at 6:07 pm

So wingnuts Falwell, Robertson, Bob Jones, etc. and all their Repugnican heroes get a pass for 30 years but McCain all along has been planning to turn wingnut Wright into Hopey’s fatal albatross?

Surely Obama saw this coming and will have ready phone and ad responses in the various states.

I suggest O run some Keating 5 ads.

TexasCowGirl November 2, 2008 at 6:08 pm

Wait a minute. Does this mean that Barack Obama has been a Christian for 20 years? I’m so confused now.

DoctorCulturae November 2, 2008 at 6:36 pm

[re=160139]Fringe Element[/re]: My guess is McFail started running these ads in PA, not because he expects to win there, but because the RNC wants Hopemaster to pull resources out of the West where he’s making headway. It’s meant to salvage the hemorrhaging occurring in AZ, MT, and NV et al.

Hopey seemed pissed speaking in Cleveland just now.

Hooray For Anything November 2, 2008 at 6:40 pm

I just saw some ad on Fox (don’t hate) against Obama that doesn’t just bring up Rev. Wright, but also somehow name droped Che Guerra (some Obama campaign HQ had Che posters in them), Hamas, Palestinians, and that picture of Obama supposedly not putting his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. It was like the Greatest Hits of Wingnut nuttery. But if you’re going to run an ad like that, why on Fox? That’s been Hannity’s show for the past three months.

War Eagle November 2, 2008 at 6:55 pm

We’ve evolved beyond race, because all I see is America’s favorite octoroon candidate, Bob Barr.

Dreamer November 2, 2008 at 6:57 pm

Is my faith in the American People misplaced – somehow I believe this time things are different. People have more mediums to get information; they’ve also seen these characters before. Anyone who was not swayed by Rev. Wright before is not going to be swayed by it now. Maybe it might have the opposite affect and people might see it as a sign of desperation from a party and candidate bankrupt of ideas and solutions.

glamourdammerung November 2, 2008 at 7:00 pm

[re=160135]Neilist[/re]: There is a difference with Palin’s and Obama’s churches though. The problem is that I am not sure how thinking black folks got the shaft through most of the United State’s history is unreasonable. Wanting your cult to have “dominion” over the nonbelievers to get the world ready for the endtimes is a whole other subject.

lampadadog November 2, 2008 at 7:02 pm

Child baptism is in the tank!

DoctorCulturae November 2, 2008 at 7:35 pm

[re=160184]Dreamer[/re]: Agreed. It is a clear sign of desperation. But there is a sea of desperate, ignorant (but not stupid) bitterz out there. If it what is what it seems, this is the last gasp of Reagan conservatism swirling down the toilet. Make sure to wash your hands.

wheelie November 2, 2008 at 8:12 pm

Once this gets out, Hillary is so going to win the primaries.

Arturo Bandini November 2, 2008 at 9:44 pm

I saw a variation on this ad during SNL last night. It didn’t include the subtitled text from what I remember, and it bleeped out “god” in “goddamn” (this is the South, y’know — meaning we’re illiterate and god-fearing).

the invisible woman November 2, 2008 at 9:53 pm

[re=160135]Neilist[/re]: Ok, the only one of the four who isn’t connected to a crazy preacher is the good catholic, Joe Biden who worships a homophobe in a dress.

But let me get this straight, you are actually defending Palin’s witchdoctor-hunting-talking-in-tongues-and-rubbing-up-Sarah-to-make-her-governor-of-Alaska Kenyan priest who is obviously the one who drove Obama’s auntie out of Kenya? John McCain thanks you for your vote and so does Sarah Palin who will soon make it legal for youl to shoot witches, including Barack Obama’s aunt, from your plane.

Neilist November 2, 2008 at 9:59 pm

[re=160282]the invisible woman[/re]: “Sarah Palin who will soon make it legal for youl to shoot witches, including Barack Obama’s aunt, from your plane.”

You silly creature.

You don’t shoot witches from a plane.

You shoot them from the proper trap or skeet station.

“PULL!”

:::BOOM!:::

(Although the broomsticks tend to splinter a bit. But that’s why you wear eye protection. That, and the fact that Dick Cheney may be on the range.)

DustBowlBlues November 2, 2008 at 10:18 pm

[re=160165]fuckinredneck[/re]: According to r County Treasurer, a Democrat, Obama is a Christian Muslim. Way to go, Anita, our noble treasurer. How fucking stupid are you?

Where is our 527 to show the movie of Sassy Sarah being healed by the African witch doctor. BTW–Did the shooting wolves from the helicopted run anywhere that anyone saw, except on HuffPo?

I just want Obama to win this thing. OKC has long lines at the polls, as does Tulsa. Even here, there were lines for early voting. Here in the Dust Bowl, the bitterz are really pissed about the fact a black Christian Muslim with mafia connections who is going to change the constitution, turn the country into a Marxist gulag and take away their guns might be prez.

I made up part of that. The numbnutz around here have no idea what a gulag is.

tonehedge November 2, 2008 at 10:33 pm

I say “FUCK AMERICA!”

Arturo Bandini November 2, 2008 at 10:45 pm

I hear Obama’s response ad is just going to be this video in its entirety:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uPlIaF65PM

With the tagline, “You just figuring this shit out now, whitey?”

(What suburban white kid didn’t think that “I got a letter from the government the other day. I opened and read it, it said they were suckers” was one of the best opening lyrics ever?)

Arturo Bandini November 2, 2008 at 10:55 pm

Although, perhaps this one is a little more appropriate?

Constitutional Riots November 2, 2008 at 11:54 pm

With all that resident evil in the McCain Shadow Campaign, I guess it was about time for Rev. Wright to make a cameo. It was still somewhat shocking to see the whole package delivered up on the last Sunday before big fat Tuesday. Thankfully, progressivefuture.org was ready with a very touching ad for Barry which aired soon after the Wright ad (in my border with the Virginia media market). It is set to Paul Simon’s “American Tune”, and if you haven’t seen it, please take a moment to watch:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbuLchsauKs

Lascauxcaveman November 3, 2008 at 1:26 am

[re=160285]Neilist[/re]: Yes, I’m quite certain Barry sat in church ever single Sunday for 20 years while the firey preacher shouted his curse against America, over and over, like a broken record.

*sigh* Hillary lost, dude. Get over it already.

JSDC007 November 3, 2008 at 10:38 am

God damn, America, why that’s a mighty fine ass on that Michelle Obama.

God damn, America, why that white woman from Alaska’s as dumb as a possum on a low hangin’ tree.

God damn, America, why that cracker from Arizona talk like Elmer Fudd?

God damn, America, its hot and its time for some sweet tea.

Local Moran November 3, 2008 at 10:58 am

[re=159978]Cogito Ergo Bibo[/re]:

Ditto.

They aired the ad this morning in Alabama. Right after Mitt Romney materialized on the Today show in support of McCain.

I can’t wait until tomorrow. After I vote, I’m totally perusin’ Craigslist to offer my lady lumps inexchange for a chance to participate in what’s going to be the biggest electric slide-doin’ group in history.

OT – But, did anyone see Jerry Springer in the town forum discussing politics? I was so hoping some southern transsexual would rip of hir top and beat down a blue-hair in the first row.
