And now Nevada can sell all that extra water to California–problem solved!

Bruno March 4, 2009 at 8:53 am

This proves Real, non-socialist America is better at job creation

ManchuCandidate March 4, 2009 at 9:00 am

It’s not just nobody’s in the flyover states, but the fact that most of the red hobo states on the east/west coasts are the economic engines of US America while the flyover states are heavily dependent on “welfare” checks from said east/west coast. Unless you legalize high fructose laced with crystal meth and tears blessed by snake handlers, the pain is just beginning for the flyover guys.

ManchuCandidate March 4, 2009 at 9:06 am

Um, high fructose corn syrup.

freakishlystrong March 4, 2009 at 9:06 am

Well, of course business is booming at BJ’s Wholesale Club..in these tough times, who doesn’t want a BJ at wholesale prices, natch.

Serolf Divad March 4, 2009 at 9:07 am

Should read: “Limbaugh is the head and tail of the Republican party.”

4tehlulz March 4, 2009 at 9:10 am

[re=257370]ManchuCandidate[/re]: I suspect that deep fried meth on a stick might be more popular option.

billjings March 4, 2009 at 9:11 am

You know that times are tough when the nyt publishes sentences like these:
“Until recently, El Centro was until recently one of those relatively cheap inland California areas where construction and home sales were booming.”
“Even Wal-Mart has cut jobs, Sam Couchman, who runs the county’s work force development office, told me.”

[re=257373]Serolf Divad[/re]: And now Jindal has joined the daisy chain and praised Steele’s backtracking/rim job for Rush. The real question is, when Repubs toss Limbaugh’s salad do they prefer grape jelly or syrup?

snideinplainsight March 4, 2009 at 9:25 am

Can we mock Maureen Dowdy again today? I don’t feel like I have come to emotional resolution on my Dowdy issues yet.

Norbert March 4, 2009 at 9:26 am

Q. Who said this: “With his private plane and his cigars, his history of drug dependency and his personal bulk, not to mention his tangled marital history, Rush is a walking stereotype of self-indulgence – exactly the image that Barack Obama most wants to affix to our philosophy and our party. And we’re cooperating!” A. David Frum. huh!

Bruno March 4, 2009 at 9:32 am

[re=257375]billjings[/re]: “work force development office” is that what they are calling HR these days? What 3rd rate management consultant came up from that? Or, more likely it more reeks of some middle manager who read some business bestseller by a 3rd rate management consultant.

AKAM80TheWolf March 4, 2009 at 9:34 am

Who knew there were that many Blacks in Nevada!

V572625694 March 4, 2009 at 9:47 am

[re=257370]ManchuCandidate[/re]: Hey wait a minute — don’t forget about all those fine Pontiac Azteks they still make in Detroit.

[re=257375]billjings[/re]: El Centro: ew. Wall*Mart failing: great! Can’t happen fast enough!

Should be easy to get a seat on that high-speed rail line from LA to Vegas.

He’s got talent on loan from God, oxycontin on loan from Miguel, and a 20-piece fried shrimp platter on loan from Red Lobster.

snideinplainsight March 4, 2009 at 9:53 am

Can somebody ask Sarah Palin how she feels about Jindal’s approval of Steele’s backpedaling regarding hs earlier comments about Rush’s stance with respect to Barak Obama?

decora March 4, 2009 at 10:08 am

Actually people do live there. Some of them might even read your pretentious, snobby blog.

Hooray For Anything March 4, 2009 at 10:10 am

On Air America last night there was a discussion on the air about whether or not El Rushbo was all coked up when he gave his CPAC speech. The reason why they thought so was because he was sweating profusely, rambled on incoherently for about an hour when he was only supposed to speak for 20 minutes, was way too hyper, wore a polyester shirt that revealed way too much chest, and wiped his nose a few times. Also, he’s a douchebag.

hobospacejungle March 4, 2009 at 10:12 am

[re=257407]decora[/re]: I doubt they can read this pretentious, snobby blog because most of them can’t read. And the ones who can apparently have a stick up their ass that makes them humorless dickheads.

decora March 4, 2009 at 10:14 am

ManchuCandidate: Wow, substitute ‘Poland’ for ‘flyover states’ and ‘Germany’ for ‘the coasts’ and you got yourself a real winner of an ideology.

decora March 4, 2009 at 10:16 am

hobospace: im sensing a little hostility. i meant ‘pretentious, snobby’ in only the most jocular, hilarious fashion.

hobospacejungle March 4, 2009 at 10:21 am

[re=257414]decora[/re]: And I meant stick up their ass humorless dickheads w/o agression or malice.

Mr Blifil March 4, 2009 at 10:34 am

Geithner is an unmitigated disaster. Huge Obama fail, even though I believe Hawaii is in this country.

CorkPopper March 4, 2009 at 10:37 am

And the Dems continue to throw gasoline on the fire of the Republican internecine warfare. As someone who’s used to many years of a Democratic party that brings a knife to a gunfight, I am impressed by their humor and their balls.

CorkPopper March 4, 2009 at 10:41 am
Hooray For Anything March 4, 2009 at 10:44 am

[re=257378]snideinplainsight[/re]: It’s hard for Dowd to be snarky these days as the President isn’t a fuck up, she’s rich enough not to have to sweat the recession, and she’s gotten away with mailing it in for years and no longer has to work very hard. In fact, I think the interns have been writing her columns for the past year or so.

hobospacejungle March 4, 2009 at 10:55 am

[re=257435]Mr Blifil[/re]: Geithner is an unmitigated disaster.

When your chief concerns are 1)to make sure stockholders in insolvent banks don’t lose the money they invested in, you know, insolvent banks & 2)to make sure Goldman Sachs doesn’t lose one dime so hey let’s keep pumping hundreds of billions into another black hole, AIG, then yes, you are going to be an unmitigated disaster.

You could probably add trying to artificially keep asset prices at bubble levels with some incomprehensible mortgage-saving plan to this short list. Also.

slavojzizek March 4, 2009 at 11:10 am

[re=257409]Hooray For Anything[/re]: Good to know the libruls now have their own radio so they can make productive contributions to public debate like this one.

Mad Farmer Manifest March 4, 2009 at 11:15 am

In addition to strapping themselves to Rush, the BBC article says that Republicans are gleefully strapping themselves to Caribou Barbie and Bobby Brady. Rush HAS to be a Democratic double agent “we don’t need new ideas, we just need the right candidate!”

Pure comedy gold.

Custerwolf March 4, 2009 at 11:17 am

[re=257418]hobospacejungle[/re]: They don’t actually read. They just sit in their bomb shelters all day staring anxiously at their transistor radios- which are perpetually tuned to capture the latest pearl of wisdom from their beloved St. Limblob.

Custerwolf March 4, 2009 at 11:26 am

[re=257414]decora[/re]: “the most jocular, hilarious fashion.” Sounds like a good descriptions of Limblob’s appearance at the CPAC conference.

Mad Farmer Manifest March 4, 2009 at 11:29 am

[re=257482]slavojzizek[/re]: Hey, when someone spends years talking about evil junkies and then gets caught being a pill popper and running around coked up…at that point, we pretty much have to mock that someone. Hypocrisy is always fair game for scorn.

[re=257488]Mad Farmer Manifest[/re]: Republicans like strap-ons!

Naked Bunny with a Whip March 4, 2009 at 11:29 am

the east/west coasts are the economic engines of US America

And a fine, fine job they’ve been doing, too! perhaps we’d be better of if we let cows run things for a change.

LittlePig March 4, 2009 at 11:37 am

[re=257369]Bruno[/re]: Naw, it’s just the prices of our tar paper shacks never rose that much, and so nobody around here is under on their mortgages.

Pulaski County, AR 4.8% – we be doing all right.

LittlePig March 4, 2009 at 11:39 am

From the BBC Article:

“It’s not our job to be the opposition party. It’s our job to be the ‘better solutions party’”
Newt Gingrich – Former Republican House Speaker

You are sure shit out of luck on that score, Newtie me lad. Your ‘solutions’ caused the current Charlie Foxtrot economy.

NebraskashireGentry March 4, 2009 at 1:51 pm

Nebraska not looking so bad right now.

though it lessens the chances of any legislation the Democrats pass to resolve the New Depression turning western Nebraska “blue with gratitude” in the next election.

ManchuCandidate March 4, 2009 at 2:09 pm

[re=257413]decora[/re]:
You don’t make any sense. I didn’t say the hobo states should fake a pretense to invade the welfare states. If it’s about uber-mensch, well check the Feds Tax receipts vs Fed pay outs and pretty much the entire midwest and South (cept Florida and Tejas) gets more money from the social communist Federales Zionist Gubbiment then they pay out.

Christ, if you’re gonna call me a fucking Nazee then get it right, fucktard.
