  • VERY LIBERAL ERIC HOLDER TO APPOINT INVESTIGATOR TO INVESTIGATE WHETHER THERE IS ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO TO HAVE AN INVESTIGATION FOR CRIMES, SUCH AS TORTURE, BUT ONLY THE STUFF THAT GEORGE W. BUSH DIDN’T SAY WAS A-OKAY: Let’s meet the pre-pre-investigation’s purported new sexy independent prosecutor: John Durham from Connecticut! “Durham’s mandate, the sources added, will be relatively narrow: to look at whether there is enough evidence to launch a full-scale criminal investigation of current and former CIA personnel who may have broken the law in their dealings with detainees.” PSST: NEW MANDATE IDEA: Send Cheney to Bagram?? I’m pretty sure some poor slob, who works in the basement of the Pentagon will end up being charged. Those behind these monsterous activities will walk. (ie. Cheney, Feith, Bush)

Any criminal investigation into the CIA conduct faces serious hurdles, according to current and former government lawyers, including such challenges as missing evidence, nonexistent or unreliable witnesses, no access to some bodies of detainees who died, and the passage of up to seven years since the questionable activity occurred far from American soil. — Gee, this could be a whole season on CSI:Las Vegas.

Send Cheney to Bagram??

He can’t argue if Obama sends him. After all, if the president says you’re an enemy combatant, you’re guilty.

OReillysVibrator August 24, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Ha, so President Obama, does this include all the torture and illegal detentions you’ve continued?

donner_froh August 24, 2009 at 2:59 pm

It makes sense that those on the sharp end of the stick, the ones who actually did the hurting, maiming and killing, should be prosecuted.

But if that is as far as Holder wants to go the International Court of Justice at the Hague and get some ambitious, headline seeking diplomat on temporary assignment indict Cheney.

An investigation to decided whether or not to investigate, a mere six years hence?

This is all very sudden. Our Lady Nooningtonbridgeworthshirethorne shan’t be please.

[re=393661]Naked Bunny with a Whip[/re]: Ha ha ha, beautifully stated…brevity: sole/wit.

If some low-level CIA flunky had been tasked with documenting the interrogations of enemy combatants via Twitter those tweets would still be in a database somewhere. (Okay, I’m going to take off the rest of the day to think about Twitter. Bye.)

Sorry, Durham, I’m still carrying a torch for Fitz. Counting down the days until the Blago case goes to trial… maybe I’ll get some sexxxy court sketches.

AbstinenceOnly Ed August 24, 2009 at 3:09 pm

After this epic fail, Holder Calrissian will proclaim “I’ve done all I can. I’m sorry I couldn’t do better, but I got my own problems,” to which Obama Solo will reply: “Yeah. You’re a real hero.”

I’m going to a town hall meeting tomorrow-I will be the one with all my teeth, no American flag T shirt and a sign that says “I support the PUBIC OPTION-Socialism Rocks!” Ok- forget the sign but I am going. I can be one angry old bitch so better not have any racists or morans come up to me. I nearly bit the head off of one subhuman with an Obama/socialism sign at a rally during the election. I was kind yet firm- I said “You wouldn’t know socialism if it bit you on the ass”(and that was one mighty big ass)

The way this works is this: They get going on an investigation and some schlupps and thugs on the 5th tier get charged and they start naming names up the ladder and eventually the real dickwads who are responsible (Cheny, Yoo, Addington, Libby, etalcabal) start getting subpoenas and maybe even charged themselves and it’s a neverending circus of ruin and hate on those assholes.

And, the Lord looked upon it and was well satisfied (and so am I).

‘Sexy’ Jim? I know it’s the dog days and all, but that facial hair says butt will be eaten.

I’ve heard that Durham has been invited on a hunting trip by Cheney to discuss the issues.

This will end with lies regarding mouf secks.

[re=393677]V572625694[/re]: “soul,” that is. Brevity is beyond me, apparently.

Who says Fitzgerald ever went away? I think he’s still there on the case, and I think everybody is going to see that Evil Heart Patient and all his closest friends doing the perp walk. It just won’t happen until there’s an airtight case. This DOJ is not run by the religious right, it’s actually run by people who understand law enforcement.

John ‘Bull’ Durham?

carlyt August 24, 2009 at 4:01 pm

One win and one loss for Obama regarding the CIA. How can he do the right thing on one issue and be so wrong on another. there is a related post at http://iamsoannoyed.com/?page_id=588

[re=393747]Marla Singer[/re]: Your faith in the DOJ to eventually prosecute W’s partners in crime is adorable. I wish I shared your faith.

Death Panel Wagon August 24, 2009 at 4:34 pm

At this point, I’d gladly trade the health care I am never going to get for the pleasure of seeing just Cheney and Rove imprisoned. For ANYTHING. Come on, just fucking pick something.

Also, it would be sweet to see that prick Yoo in an internment camp, or at least disbarred, but really, Cheney/Rove. I don’t even care about shrub, cuz he already had his legacy destroyed so who gives a shit. Best thing for him would be to ignore him forever and ever until he is doing cash for gold commercials.

SayItWithWookies August 24, 2009 at 4:57 pm

Can’t we just lock up the people who knew this was illegal and authorized it? I mean, who the hell calls US laws “quaint” and unilaterally decides we don’t have to follow them? Throw those bastards in an open pit somewhere, and then get some serious socialist therapy for the poor bastards who had to carry out their orders. Like, would you want to be the neighbor/spouse/stranger-who-accidentally-dings-the-car-of a guy who spent a year beating innocent teenaged farmers into bloody unconsciousness because they didn’t know where Osama bin Laden was? Fuckers need help.

[re=393684]shadowMark[/re]: Get Mr. Low-level torturer to rat on his superiors, then get them to rat on other higher-ups and before you know it, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc., are in the dock.

Mahousu August 24, 2009 at 8:57 pm

The problem is, if you send Cheney to Bagram, he’ll be greeted as a liberator.
