While the scientists may say things like “less nuclear weapons makes us objectively safer,” Reason has deduced that they are basking in the afterglow of an “Obama Effect” (handjob). Metaphorically, of course.

JMP January 14, 2010 at 3:42 pm

I tried reading the comments on that Hit & Run piece; that was a mistake. It’s all, “don’t these idiots know Obama’s going to destroy the world,” “what about the nukes that Iran almost has in our imaginations,” and “you know these guys are stupid because they accept the universal scientific consensus on global warming”. The stupid makes my head hurt.

Oooh, a veritable catfight has erupted at RedState over this. In sum…

Several RS commenters: Net Neutrality is good, and here’s several gazillion reasons why.

Neil Stevens: Shut up, you’re wrong and goddamn socialist Democrat pansies besides. Also, I fucked your mom. Nyah nyah nyah.

charlesdegoal January 14, 2010 at 3:53 pm

That Doomsday thing, it’s like life expectancy tables: the older you get, the longer you’re expected to live. Until you no longer do, if course.

AnSnarkist January 14, 2010 at 4:01 pm

Well, if Net Neutrality is gone, the Internet will be nothing but glorified television serving only corporate interest. Blah.

proudgrampa January 14, 2010 at 4:01 pm

“We are poised to bend the arc of history toward a world free of nuclear weapons.”

With the pending collapse of civilization from the economic crisis, we might prefer the quicker death offered by nukes. We are so freakin’ doomed…

JMP January 14, 2010 at 4:04 pm

[re=494881]queeraselvis v 2.0[/re]: Looking over the comments, it looks like the only reason Stevens et al. believe net neutrality is bad is because liberals like it.

magic titty January 14, 2010 at 4:13 pm

[re=494896]JMP[/re]: I like the person who says ‘I don’t know what net neutrality is, but I like and trust Neil, so, yeah.’

Which Wonketter was that? Fess up.

AnnieGetYourFun January 14, 2010 at 4:14 pm

If we’ve learned anything from Wonkett, it is that conservative Republicans have NEVER mastered the actual twat, which is why they are Republicans.

El Pinche January 14, 2010 at 4:16 pm

Even my wingnut dad has a twatter account.

“@CaptCnch The prunes are working!”

“Id hella bang Betty White frm behnd.”

Lascauxcaveman January 14, 2010 at 4:19 pm

[re=494896]JMP[/re]: Kinda surprising the IQ level is high enough there to grasp the concept of net neut, much less argue in favor of it.

Must not be their regular commenters.

comicbookguy January 14, 2010 at 4:23 pm

Republicans are way ahead in saying stupid things on twitter which they have to later apologize for and/or explain. Just look at the numbers. Way ahead there.

Democrats need to catch up. Will Pelosi’s daughter please step up and tweet her cleavage?

Min January 14, 2010 at 4:33 pm

Relax, everyone. Armageddon just stopped to take a leak.

JMP January 14, 2010 at 4:35 pm

[re=494910]Lascauxcaveman[/re]: I just love Stevens’s replies to the people asking why he’s against neutrality. “I’ve talked about before and be bothered to do so again. And it’s Big Govment! Your a socialiest!

gurukalehuru January 14, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Republicans are way ahead at saying stupid shit and misspelling it. Yay, twitter!

Ducksworthy January 14, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Redstate currently contains this gem.

” I have been tryign to figure out what the best arguments against Net Neutrality are, but you aren’t really doing a great job of bringing it across clearly and concisely.

You say the big money people like google and microsoft are for it to protect their current market dominant position, but you don’t really say how.

I know that being agaisnt it is the right thing, and I think I know why, but in so many arguments our side makes so much more sense. ”

I know that being against it is the right thing because what AT&T, Comcast and Rush tell me it is but its up to RedState to give me a concise meaningless bullshit reason to believe what my corporate masters want me to believe??????

S.Luggo January 14, 2010 at 5:29 pm

“There are 132 House lawmakers who use Twitter, 89 Republicans and 43 Democrats.”
And this proves what?
All 89 Republicans molest their pages and have a man-crush on the Jonas Brothers.

a_pink_poodle January 14, 2010 at 5:36 pm

Why do you gotta post RedState links? :( When I read something so incredibly ignorant from that site, I just can’t help but comment and all day I’m arguing with them and at the end I’m all stressed!

betterDeadThanRed January 14, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Every time I start to worry about the Republicans mastering some Internet technology or service (and I use the term loosely in Twitter’s case), I just surf over to GOP.COM and I feel better.

Silly nuclear scientists and their “Armageddon Clock”. Only God and the ancient Mayans know when the end of the world will come. Snow-Billy told me so.

Is Net Neutrality anything like Switzerland? Because if it is we know that rich people just want to use it to hide money from the IRS. Which makes me think the Republicans should be for it.

Paul Tardy January 14, 2010 at 5:55 pm

Net Neutrality just means Jihadis and other welfare cases get the same privileges as real Americans. I agree with Madame Clinton, if it moves tax it, and if it doesn’t move poke at it with a stick until it does. That always works with Bill.

Humpback January 14, 2010 at 6:09 pm

I always feel sad for poor Riley when I see his round-up posts. Obviously, as low man in the group, he has been assigned to read these horrible, upsetting wingnut screeds. He does his best to keep a smile, but you can feel his soul is dying a bit each time.

chascates January 14, 2010 at 11:36 pm

But, as a touch of good news, Robert Novak is still dead.

stormkite January 15, 2010 at 11:22 pm

[re=495218]chascates[/re]: But is he still in the grave? I always thought he had a kind of undead vibe to him…
