I’ve been told a number of times that liberals are hypocrites for not being more tolerant of other people’s view points, because there has from time to time, been a knee-jerk reaction to label people offering their own views as “sexist,” “racist,” or “homophobic” because their religious views cause them to dislike or distrust women, a racial minority, or homosexuals. There are many parts of Islam which do run contrary to my own liberal beliefs. There are parts of Islam which could very easily be labelled as as “sexist,” “racist,” or “homophobic.” However, I support the right of Muslims to practice their faith peacefully even though I do not believe in it or agree with parts of it myself. Rather than being applauded for taking a principled stand in favor of freedom of religion and freedom of expression, which I keep getting told liberals oppose, now liberals are accused of collaborating and/or giving aid and comfort to America’s enemies.
If I didn’t know better, I would say there is some kind of double standard at work here.

I don’t know where they get the idea that pork is so repulsive to Muslims that it would make them physically sick if they had to view a shop selling those products.
These people must all live in Idaho, or something, if they think that Muslims in NYC can avoid seeing advertisements and shops that offer pork products.
I remember an article a few years ago in the NY Times about a Kosher restaurant and shop that sold, among other things, kosher pizza, as well as kosher meat.
Muslims were frequent customers in the shop, as they have high standards for meat, and they appreciate the quality of the kosher product.
