OH COME ON: Dawn Johnsen, the nice lady who would've made an awesome head of the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel (PEOPLE WHO WRITE TORTURE MEMOS), has are you kidding WITHDRAWN her nomination? To head the Office of Legal Counsel? Ugh, lame. She was appointed last year, and then her Senate approval stalled for a year, and then Obama reappointed her a couple of months ago, she made it out of committee, it looked like she had the votes, but no. All because Ben Nelson was upset that she's pro-choice, like most of Ben Nelson's Democratic party. [TPM]
