Ann Coulter is mad as hell and she's not going to take it anymore! She's sick and tired of "Republicans" blaming Trump for getting raped (by the media) just because he wears short skirts and is a woman. Just standing by, doing nothing, while he gets cruelly verbally penetrated at every turn. Or something!
In a column titled "GOP BLAMES VICTIM OF MEDIA RAPE," Coulter criticized GOP leaders for going along with what the media says about Trump. You know, because people do not have access to see what Trump is saying and decide for themselves whether or not they agree with it. They only know what we, THE MEDIA, tell them about it. And boy do we ever lie! We lie even more than she ever thought we would lie!
Even having predicted that the media's attacks on Trump would be unprecedented, I'm still amazed. Every single news outlet is dedicated to hysterically denouncing Trump, every minute of every day, while cooing at Hillary.
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]This is not actually true. The reason why Trump keeps getting media attention is because he keeps saying things that will get him media attention, and then backing off and going "JUST KIDDING!" when he gets in trouble for it. That's been his tactic since the beginning.
Coulter claims the media paid absolutely no attention to Omar Mateen's father showing up to one of Clinton's rallies, which is weird, because CNN was ON THAT.
Now we find out that another honored guest at Hillary events is the father of Omar Mateen, the Muslim jihadist who murdered 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando a few months ago. On Monday night, he attended a Hillary rally where he sat cheering, right behind her on the stage.
Is David Duke's father given VIP seating at Trump events? (As long as you mention it, did David Duke gun down 49 people in June? Or ever? Or anyone?)
It took the national media 24 hours to mention the fact that the jihadist's father is a big Hillary supporter, sitting in the camera's line of sight at her Florida rally. A Google search of Trump and David Duke produces more than 11 million hits. A Google search of Hillary and Omar Mateen gets a few hundred thousand hits.
Hillary's being supported by the father of a jihadist is treated like back-page stuff, presented amid florid excuses and rationalizations. It was a staffer's mistake, an "unforced error," and Hillary's opponents are "leaping on it."
The main story this week: The media's psychotic claim that Trump called for Hillary's assassination.
Well gee, about the number of hits on that David Duke thing? Could it possibly be because it happened a while ago, and there have been several follow-ups, whereas the Omar Mateen father thing happened this week? Hmm! Also, David Duke has been around quite a bit longer, and people recognize him more readily than they recognize Mateen's dad.
Coulter went on about how the media OBVIOUSLY spun Trump's Second Amendment People comment to make it sound like an assassination threat, when obviously he meant that they would kill her with votes .
Hmmm. What could Second Amendment people "do"? One thing they could do is what they did do -- in 1994. That was the year gun rights supporters voted out dozens of Democrats who voted wrong on guns, ushering in the first Republican Congress in 40 years.
It's been nearly a quarter century, and the Democrats are still so traumatized by their sweeping losses in 1994, that, even after Gabby Giffords was shot in Arizona, even after the Aurora movie theater shooting, even after the Sandy Hook massacre, Democrats refused to take up a gun bill in the U.S. Senate.
Sure! That could be a thing! Except another thing is that many Second Amendment People insist the Second Amendment exists so they can overthrow the government. That is a pretty big thing!
But we, the media, are just being SO MEAN! Meaner than we were to that nice Joe McCarthy even!
No one, not even Joe McCarthy, has ever faced this level of obsessive hatred from our constitutionally protected guardians of liberty in the press. Anyone else would be chewed up and spit out after one minute of such relentless attacks.
We all know "the media" has always been super nice to Hillary Clinton! She has certainly not faced a freakish and bizarre and unrelenting amount of criticism for basically her entire public life.
Coulter then cites some cool examples of how THE MEDIA would twist stories on Clinton if they were doing the same thing to her as to Trump:
There's no way to phrase something so that it can't be lied about. Here are the first three lines from an affectionate article on Hillary Clinton in Wednesday's New York Times:
-- "Hillary Clinton Hopes to Capitalize on Republican Defectors"
Hillary to accept bribes from Goldman Sachs, Halliburton and the Koch brothers.
-- "Hillary Clinton's campaign would like to turn the drip-drip-drip of Republican defectors abandoning Donald J. Trump into a deluge."
Hillary supports the use of Chinese water torture.
-- "On Wednesday, after days in which several high-profile Republicans said they could not support Mr. Trump or were endorsing Mrs. Clinton, her campaign introduced an official outreach effort to target Republicans ..."
Hillary campaign to "target" Republicans for murder.
Yes, making words from an article into a thing that could maybe sound threatening if you squinted a whole lot and looked at it upside down and were taking a lot of drugs at the time is definitely the same thing as thinking Donald Trump says some screwed up things!
There's no strategy for overcoming this level of media hostility. Trump has made some mistakes during this campaign, but he hasn't done anything wrong for months now. He could say "yes," and the media would change the question to, "Are you a child molester?"
Craven Republicans who blame Trump for the media's lies may as well blame a rape victim for wearing a short skirt. Except with Trump, it's the Muslim standard: They're blaming a woman's rape on being a woman.
This is rather interesting since Coulter believes women who say they have been raped are just doing it for attention. Unlike Donald Trump, we guess, who would never say outlandish things for attention. Never.
Coulter also said it's not really rape until you get hit in the head with a brick, so she should probably wait on that particular characterization until someone from "the media" tosses an actual brick at Trump's head, should she want to stick to her own standards.

Ann Coulter Finally Stands Up For 'Rape Victim,' And It Is Somehow Donald Trump
Joke Robyn, joke not a serious commentary. Also, I totally agree about the transphobic jokes regarding Ann Coulter- not only do they malign a small and therefore vulnerable minority group by placing Ann fucking Coulter in there without merit but they demean the person making the joke. I was just offering a comical alternative to those bigoted jokes by saying "you know what Ann Coulter is cisgendered and that makes the very prominent Adam's Apple just weird, not evidence of her being trans". I thought that was pretty clear in the comment but given the few likes it has maybe it wasn't.
In the first paragraph on the first page of the GOP playbook, authored by Mr Nixon and Mr Atwater, is the injunction "when things are going badly in a campaign, first blame the media"
