A memorial to the youngest victim of the Jan. 8 shooting rampage in Tucson, Christina-Taylor Green, will include a twisted five-foot length of steel beam from the World Trade Center. The monument is a statue of an angel, to be erected in the outfield of her Little League softball field in a Tucson suburb.

She will make a 9-foot-11-inch statue of a similar angel for the James D. Kriegh Park in Oro Valley, Ariz., where Christina-Taylor’s team plays. The steel beam will be incorporated into the angel’s skirt, she said. A piece of steel from the Pentagon and a rock from Pennsylvania will also be incorporated into the sculpture, to be dedicated April 1, Ms. Hennessey-Owen said.

“Christina-Taylor wanted to be a symbol of hope for those touched by our nation’s great tragedy on 9/11, the day she was born,” the statement read. “May this field and statue create a legacy of good sportsmanship and fair play for everyone.”
