Arlen and Jeff's Excellent Adventure: An Update
Last month we blogged about the holiday trip that Sens. Arlen Specter and Jeff Sessions took to Central and South America. Now, a postscript on their trip.
First, we previously speculated that the staffer who accompanied the two senators was one of the many female hotties who work for Senator Sessions. Alas, this was not the case; the staffer in question is male (no word on his hotness).
Second, while in Colombia, Senators Specter and Sessions got some clever advice on the thorny issue of immigration:
[Colombian President Alvaro] Uribe had a nifty solution. "President Uribe said he would consider having Colombian workers have microchips implanted into their bodies before they are permitted to enter the United States to work on a seasonal basis," Specter reported.
"I doubted whether the implantation of microchips would be effective," Specter reflected, "since the immigrant worker might be able to remove them."
Fair enough, Senator Specter; but why do you have to be such a killjoy? Isn't the idea of a bunch of Colombians running around the U.S. with microchips planted inside themselves kinda cool?
