Air America is declaring bankruptcy today. ThinkProgress.org reports layoffs, firings, all sorts of chaos. Jerry Springer got fired, too. (That's who they got for a "liberal talk-show host"? No wonder nobody listened.)

The right wing is sure to seize on Air America's financial woes as a sign that progressive talk radio is unpopular. In fact, Air America succeeded at creating something that didn't exist: the progressive talk radio format.

Actually, the "progressive talk radio format" has existed for decades. It's called NPR or Pacifica or PRI or whatever, but you need one of those new-fangled FM receivers to hear it.
